Two exciting programs will commence next week to further realize the goals of shaping diversly-skill, well-rounded students at St. James.
The Common Arts will begin Monday for 5th/6th and 7th/8th grades and then in following weeks for 4th/5th grades. The first two Common Arts have the goal of exposing students to the use of textiles: rug hooking and embroidery. Woodworking and cooking will be our next two Common Arts.
Juniper Farms: Students in single class size groups will get to visit Juniper Farms in Elkhorn to take part in real farm chores! Juniper Farms is an authentic working farm that has also hosted children to come learn about agricultural and farm life for the last two decades.
These series of fields trips support our Outdoor Education goals and allow students a real experience of traditional human work in an age dominated by screens. The program is run by Kate Meyer, a devout Catholic who seeks to open the eyes of children to God's goodness through farming and love of creation and human work.
