Teacher Brenna’s origin story incoming…
You know that kind of warm, buzzy feeling you get when nostalgia hits you in the gut and suddenly your brain and body are right back in those moments again?? 😳 That’s how I get when I think about teaching the Bongos Collection every Fall and it always comes as my oldest kiddo has a birthday (today! 💕). These feelings are intrinsically tied together. This upcoming Fall Music Together Collection holds a really special and significant role in my life as a Teacher, but even more importantly, as a mom. 🥹
This September will mark the SIXTH time I’ve taught this collection! ‼️ Our Song Collections cycle through every 3 years, so you do the math as to how many times I’ve taught it or how long I’ve been either taking or teaching these classes (seriously, you do it - I’m terrible at math!) 😂 🤯
The Timeline…
🥁2011: The first time I ever took a Music Together Class with my first born on a recommendation from a fellow singer colleague of mine who happened to be a MT Director. These classes featured the Bongos Collection. I FELL IN LOVE with it and the seed was planted in my brain. That spring, I got Certified to teach these classes but life and a second baby put that on hold for a bit.
🥁2014: The first time I ever TAUGHT a Music Together class was in Boston and the collection was…yep, Bongos! I was very nervous to teach these classes for the first time, but so comforted that I knew this song collection SUPER well because I sang the songs a million times as a mom at home.
🥁2017: My first time teaching Bongos as a Director of my own Center.
🥁2020: Well, you all know what we needed to do at this time - ADAPT! And boy, did we ever. We pivoted to online classes and they were a GIFT for me and for families who had something to look forward to every week.
🥁2023: We were back into our studio spaces by this time around and we got some new songs added and moved into the Bongos Collection!
🥁Cut to 2026 and my 10th year as the director and owner of Little Sprouts Music Together and yep, I still got that nostalgic feeling and I’m SO EXCITED to sing these amazing songs with you all in just over 2 weeks!
