Please share and vote in November!!

A yes vote on the Nov. 3 bond unlocks $30 million in state matching funds for Mukilteo schools, funding that's ONLY available if our community votes yes.

Mukilteo residents already pay into this fund through state taxes. A yes vote is how we get our share back for our schools. A no vote means leaving $30 million on the table, money that is not guaranteed in the future.

Learn more about the bond and how it supports every student in our district at the website in our bio.

🚨 Our collective action is working but to ensure IEPOnline 3.0 is fully fixed and functional we must again TAKE ACTION NOW! The WSIPC Board of Directors (made up of the 9 ESD Superintendents) voted unanimously on September 15 to declare IEPOnline 3.0 out of compliance with contract requirements, mandate a corrective action plan and suspend billing to districts until the issue is resolved. While this is forward progress, the PROBLEMS with IEPOnline 3.0 still PERSIST and we need to keep the pressure up to ensure this situation is fixed for our educators and students served in special education.

Learn more and take the following TWO actions now for our students and special education educators:

1. Contact the WSIPC board to continue their pressure on PSG at https://secure.ngpvan.com/IQlqaZpdcEaDz-x6EQ7bgA2

2. Contact ourlegislators and Governor Ferguson to pressure WSIPC and PCG to quickly fix IEPOnline 3.0 at https://secure.ngpvan.com/OFRBX2NL8k6o6fFoo_YOsg2

It's Membership Monday! Meet Trevor Lewis a Member-At-Large on your MEA Executive Board!

Trevor Lewis has been a part of MSD since Kindergarten at the old Lake Stickney.

You can now find him teaching in the STEAM Lab at Voyager Middle School. Or sneaking off to his new favorite restaurant Dumpling World for a date night with his wife Maggie while the kids are busy. Or Wearing his Mariner gear to his daughter’s Kamiak basketball game. Or cheering on his son in the musical.

He is currently reading Katabasis by R.F. Kuang.

What’s on your summer reading list?

Students Celebrating Pride Month 🌈🌈

Across Mukilteo School District, students are finding meaningful ways to build connection, celebrate one another, and create welcoming school communities for everyone. June’s Pride Month activities are one example of how schools support student belonging through positive, student-centered experiences.

At one school, students are preparing a Crew Time lesson focused on inclusion, kindness, and supporting one another. Student groups are also planning fun activities throughout the week, including a PRIDE Club celebration with cake, snacks, and a spirited march around campus. A little birdie told us that they may even hide tiny rainbow ducks around their school for students and staff to discover.

Student leaders have been creating opportunities for connection and belonging all year long. From the Rainbow Connection group’s participation in this spring’s Celebrate Diversity Night to helping staff create bulletin boards and displays recognizing heritage and awareness months, students and staff continue to celebrate the many identities, cultures, and experiences that make each school community unique.

It's Membership day! Meet your MECU Rep on the MEA Executive Board, Josh Olson!

Name: Josh Olson
Hometown: Everett, WA
Schools: Fairmount, Discovery, Voyager, Mariner
College: Washington State University
Career: Math, PE/Health Teacher Mariner HS

I loved being a student in Mukilteo, the teachers I had and the community that helped me along the way so much that I came back to help the teach next generation. I coach at Explorer and Voyager and help the freshmen success team. Outside of school I love traveling, camping (with our cat) and tailgating in Pullman with my wife who also teaches in the district. I love trading dad jokes in class with the kids.

What’s your favorite dad joke?

It's Membership Monday! Meet your Middle School Representative on the MEA Executive Board, Roni Cook!

With 32 years of experience teaching students with significant disabilities — including the past seven in Mukilteo — I am passionate about ensuring every student feels supported and valued. In addition to teaching, I mentor a FIRST Robotics team, serve as treasurer for my Alpha Delta Kappa chapter, sit on the MEA Executive Board, and represent educators on the WEA Special Education Committee. This spring, I was honored to receive the Alpha Delta Kappa Excellence in Education Award.

Each June, I proudly walk in the Seattle Pride Parade with educators from across the state. Outside of school, I enjoy cheering on the Sounders, Seahawks, and Mariners, visiting stadiums when I travel, and embracing my love of Disney — because it’s always a good day to be at Disneyland! Goofy is my favorite.

Who is your Favorite Character?
