Last week, Brighton students participated in a hands-on toy-making workshop with educational toymaker Rick Hartman and his School of Toy program! Rick has been visiting Brighton for over 20 years, returning each year with exciting new designs for students to master and create. We love having this longtime Brighton tradition back on campus!
Students designed and built their own wooden toys, bringing together math, science, engineering, and design. Along the way, they revisited concepts from their STEAM and science classes, exploring topics like forces, energy, and gravity while seeing these ideas come to life through hands-on building.
We love opportunities like this that encourage creativity, spark curiosity, and help students connect what they learn in the classroom to the world around them! special thanks to Brighton School PTO for sponsoring this event for our students!

It’s National Coaches Day! Today, and everyday, we are incredibly thankful for the coaches who give their time, energy, and encouragement to help out students grow both on and off the field. From teaching the fundamentals to cheering from the sidelines, our coaches make a lasting impact on our student athletes! Thank you coaches for all you do! 🦅

September was a good one!

From the first day of school and welcoming new students and families to developing new friendships, classroom routines, Curriculum Nights, field trips, and plenty of learning and laughter along the way, our first month together has been full of moments worth celebrating.

Here’s a look back at a few of our favorite September moments!

09/14/2026

The first field trip of the year is in the books! Last Thursday, our middle schoolers had a fantastic field trip to Golden Gardens Park, where fun and teamwork were the name of the game! Students jumped into Polis group challenges like the hilarious “Cup O’ Noodle” battle (knocking plastic cups off pool noodles) and a beach-themed scavenger hunt.
Beyond the competitions, there was plenty of time for skipping rocks, swimming, and grabbing an ice cream with friends- because community is just as important as competition!
Polis groups are our mixed-grade teams made up of 6th–8th graders and named after Greek city-states that students learn about in 6th grade social studies. Much like the Harry Potter house system, these teams work together throughout the year and face off in challenges ranging from Battle of the Books and Kahoot Trivia to the ultimate Greek Olympics competition at the end of the year.
This system helps build strong friendships across grade levels while teaching important lessons around teamwork, perseverance, collaboration, and sportsmanship- skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
We can’t wait to see what this year’s Polis teams accomplish together!

A few weeks ago, we had the very exciting opportunity to welcome members of Google’s Education Devices team to Brighton School!

Their team, who has members from around the globe, spent time on our campus learning more about what teaching and learning looks like in a school environment- observing how technology is integrated into our classrooms and having thoughtful conversations with our teachers and administrators about their experiences, workflows, and ideas.

We were able to share an authentic look at the ways technology supports our students and teachers each day, while also learning from a team that is passionate about listening to educators and understanding what schools truly need.

And just like that, the first week of the 2026-2027 school year is complete and we are so excited to be back! We had a great first week spent getting to know one another, learning new routines, building our classroom communities, and getting the year off to a wonderful start. We are officially one week away from the first day of school!

This week, our amazing teachers returned and we are officially in full prep mode for the new school year!Classrooms are getting ready, supplies are getting organized, and we’re counting down the days until our halls are filled with students again! We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for a brand-new school year! See you soon!

And just like that… Summer Camp 2026 is a wrap!

Today we celebrated the last day of an incredible summer at Brighton and want to take a moment to reflect on the all fun we had this Summer! From new friendships and big adventures, to creative projects, outdoor play, and plenty of summer fun, our campers packed so many wonderful memories into these past 10 weeks!

A huge thank you to our amazing teachers and camp staff, and a very special shoutout to our Summer Camp Director, Mrs. Kindred, for creating such a fun and welcoming summer!

Lastly to our campers: thank you for making this summer so special. We hope you head into the rest of summer with full hearts, big smiles, and lots of stories to tell!

Although the school year came to a close a few weeks ago, we're still smiling as we look back on an incredible 2025–2026 school year!

From the first day of school to the last day of celebrations, our students learned, grew, explored, performed, competed, created, and made memories that will last a lifetime. Whether it was discovering new passions in our specialist classes, cheering on classmates at athletic events, performing on stage, embarking on unforgettable class trips, or celebrating milestones together, this year was filled with moments that reminded us what makes the Brighton community so special.

To our students, families, faculty, and staff- thank you for making this year one to remember. We hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful summer, and we can't wait to welcome both familiar and new faces back this fall!
