Ms. Bonnie brings enthusiasm, creativity, and a genuine love for teaching to our Preschool classroom each day. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature with a minor in Creative Writing and has experience working with children through babysitting, tutoring, and teaching. While she has worked with children of all ages, Preschool is where her passion shines the brightest! ✨

Our Spring Fling is an annual, carnival-themed fundraiser that lets Primrose students experience the joy of giving back to families in their community and beyond. This year, through fun auctions, games, food and more, children helped raise more than $560,000 for local charities and the Primrose Schools Partnership for Children℠. ​

Just like any skill, friendship skills grow with practice. 🌱 Here are a few ways to help your child feel more confident connecting with others: ​

👀 Be a model friend ​
Children learn by watching. Show kindness, patience and active listening in your everyday interactions. ​

🧸 Practice with puppets or stuffed animals ​
Pretend play can help children act out social situations, practice words to use and explore what friendship looks like. ​

📚 Read stories about friendship​
Story time is one of the best ways to teach your child what it means to be a good friend, so snuggle up with a good read, like:​
📖 “A Bug, a Bear, and a Boy” by David McPhail​
📖 “Hunter’s Best Friend at School” by Laura Malone Elliott​
📖 “The Story of Fish and Snail” by Deborah Freedman​

🤝 Start with one-on-one play dates ​

🌟 PRE-KINDERGARTEN SPOTLIGHT 🌟

Our Pre-K friends had a wonderful day filled with learning, exploration, and creativity! 📚✨

🔤 Language & Literacy: Today, we reinforced letter sounds and introduced our Poem of the Week, “Kitten and the Moon.” 🌙🐱 The children enjoyed listening, learning, and building their early literacy skills!

🔢 Small Group Math: Our children participated in a hands-on activity exploring capacity! They had fun investigating how much different containers can hold while developing important early math concepts.

🌙 Social | Science | Art: We discussed the nighttime sky and talked about what we see and what we hear at night. 🌌👀👂 We recorded our ideas on a chart and then used painting colors to create beautiful nighttime pictures! 🎨🖌️✨

📚🐷Preschool Learning Spotlight! 🐷📚

Today our Preschool friends had a wonderful time listening to The Three Little Pigs by Teresa Mlawer. 🏡

Before reading, we explored the cover of the book and talked about the important roles of the author, who writes the story, and the illustrator, who brings the story to life through pictures. 🎨📖 As we read together, the children used the illustrations to describe what they could see, building their vocabulary, observation skills, and confidence in sharing their ideas. ✨

We also reviewed the letter A 🔤 and introduced the "Three Little Pigs" poem. Together, we listened carefully for rhyming words, developing our phonological awareness while having lots of fun joining in with the rhyme. ❤️📚

✨📏 Preschool Math

Our preschoolers explored measurement in a whole new way! After spending the past few days investigating weight and capacity with liquid measuring cups, we shifted our focus to length using non-standard units of measurement.

We started by comparing objects and asking questions like:
📏 Which object is longer?
📏 Which object is shorter?
🤔 How do you know?

Then, the children estimated how tall our gingerbread boy might be before using connecting cubes to measure his height. They carefully lined up the cubes, counted them, and discovered just how many blocks tall the gingerbread boy was! 🧱📏

🍞😋 Project Time in Our Pre-Kindergarten Classroom! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Today during Project Time, our little bakers were invited to make bread! 🥣✨

We explored all the ingredients, measurements, and materials needed to create our delicious homemade bread. The children made predictions, observed how the ingredients changed as they mixed together, and discovered the exciting science behind baking! 🧈🥄🌾

Hands-on experiences like bread making help children build scientific thinking, strengthen math skills through measuring, expand vocabulary, and encourage teamwork—all while having fun! ❤️ We can't wait to enjoy our delicious creation!

☀️🌈 Summer fun is in full swing at The Primrose School at Mountainside! 💛

Learning doesn't take a vacation here! All summer long, our students continue to grow through hands-on learning, creativity, and exciting adventures. From 🎨 painting, 🔤 letter learning, 📚 storytime, 👩‍🍳 cooking activities, and so much more, every day is filled with opportunities to learn through play.

And of course, summer wouldn't be complete without our favorite water fun! 💦 Our older children love running through the sprinklers on Splash Days, while our youngest learners safely enjoy cooling off on our baby-friendly splash pad. 👶💙

🎨🦁✨ Our Pre-K Artists Were Busy Creating!

During Project Time, our Pre-K friends enjoyed reading The Shape of Things by Dayle Ann Dodds. 📚🔺🟦 We talked about how the illustrator uses simple shapes to create different objects, helping children see that creativity can begin with just a circle, square, or triangle! 💡🎨

Inspired by the story, our little learners used a variety of shapes to create their own lion masks! 🦁✂️🟡
