What an incredible way to wrap up our time in Portland.

We started the day at the Educators Rising awards ceremony. While Dalton and Enoch did not walk away with a national title, they have so much to be proud of. Out of 50 teams in the Ethical Dilemma competition, they earned the opportunity to compete on the national stage. That alone is an incredible accomplishment and a testament to the hard work they put in throughout the year.

One of the things Educators Rising does so well is remind students that success is about more than a trophy. This week was filled with opportunities to learn, grow, connect with future educators from across the country, and experience places we may never have had the chance to see otherwise. We may not be bringing home a first-place finish, but we are bringing home memories that will last a lifetime.

After the awards ceremony, we made one final adventure stop at the Columbia River Gorge and hiked to the top of Multnomah Falls. Climbing 800 feet in elevation was no small task, but the views were worth every step. It was the perfect way to end an unforgettable trip in the Pacific Northwest.

See you tomorrow, Missouri. We have missed you.

Day 3 gave us a break from the conference, so we took the opportunity to get out of the city and explore more of what Oregon has to offer. We headed to Cannon Beach where we got to see Haystack Rock, spend some time on the beach, and enjoy some delicious food. We can all agree that the Pacific Northwest is absolutely beautiful.

We also want to say thank you again to Mercy St. Francis for their generous donation that helped make this once in a lifetime trip possible for our students. We are grateful for the support that has allowed them to experience everything this week has had to offer.

Day 2 in Portland was another great one!

We started the morning with some delicious treats from Voodoo Doughnut before heading to the conference, where we spent some time exploring the College and Innovation Fair. It was a great opportunity to learn about different pathways in education and connect with organizations from across the country.

We then attended the Educators Rising Membership Recognition Luncheon and heard from Bryant Butcher Jr., the 2024-2025 Oregon State Teacher of the Year. Educators Rising always seems to knock it out of the park with their keynote speakers, and this year has been no exception. His message was a reminder that teachers will not always be perfect, but if we continue to show up authentically, we can make a difference and help our students succeed as well.

After the luncheon, we spent some time exploring the Hoyt Arboretum. We completed two trails, got to see some awesome redwood trees, and enjoyed some of the natural beauty that Portland has to offer.

We wrapped up the day with some amazing Italian food followed by frozen yogurt. It was a great way to end another busy day in Portland.

Day 1 in Portland is in the books, and it was an eventful kickoff to our Educators Rising National Conference trip!

We started the day with a delicious breakfast at Pine State Biscuits before heading to Powell’s Books, where we had the chance to explore three floors filled with books of every kind imaginable.

The conference activities began in the afternoon as Dalton and Enoch competed in their Ethical Dilemma event. We are proud of the work they put in and the way they represented our school. Results coming on Tuesday.

Later, we attended the opening ceremony and learned that more than 3,000 students and educators from across the country are attending this year's conference. We also heard from 2025 National Teacher of the Year Ashlie Crosson, who shared her journey from being a student herself to becoming a teacher. She used one of the competitions called Educators Rising moments as a muse for her speech. Her message was a reminder that we all deserve to make it and that each of us has the ability to make a difference in the lives of others.

This year's Educators Rising theme is, "Teach with Purpose. Lead with Passion." As we begin this week, that theme is already coming to life. Our students are learning from educators, competing alongside future teachers from across the nation, and taking steps toward turning their passion for education into a purpose that will impact future generations.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Mercy St. Francis for your donation to help make this trip a reality. Because of your support, our students are able to take part in this incredible experience.

If today was any indication, this week will be full of learning, growth, and many memories that will stay with our students long after they leave Portland.
