FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT’S DESK
October’s Focus: RESPECT
Last month, we talked about PRIDE.
This month, I want to focus on one of the most important ways we demonstrate PRIDE: RESPECT.
Respect is something we expect from everyone at Mountain View-Gotebo Schools.
Students.
Staff.
Parents.
Coaches.
Administrators.
Community members.
Everyone.
Respect starts with how we carry ourselves.
It means taking responsibility for our words and actions. It means understanding that being upset, frustrated, or disappointed does not give us permission to treat others poorly.
We all have bad days. We all get frustrated. We all disagree with people from time to time.
That is not the issue.
The real test of character is how we respond.
Can we control our words? Can we handle a difficult situation without making it worse? Can we accept responsibility when we are wrong?
Respect isn't something we demand from everyone else while refusing to give it ourselves.
If we expect respect, we must be willing to show it.
That starts with each of us.
Before we worry about whether someone else is showing us enough respect, we should first ask ourselves a simple question:
Am I showing respect?

🚒🔥 Fire Prevention Week at MVG Elementary! 🔥🚒

Our Pre-K through 1st grade students had a special visit Friday afternoon from Mountain View firefighters Kevin Hooper and Jeremy Hooper!

Students learned about fire safety and prevention and had the exciting opportunity to get an up-close look at a fire truck! Each student received a goodie bag, and each classroom was gifted a book!

A BIG THANK YOU to Kevin and Jeremy for taking time out of their day to visit our students, share important fire safety lessons, and make learning fun!

We appreciate our local firefighters and all they do to keep our community safe!
