প্রতিটি গাড়ির নাম্বার প্লেট অনেকটা একইরকম দেখতে হলেও সেগুলোর নাম্বার আলাদা। সাদা এবং সবুজ এই দুই রঙের নাম্বার প্লেট আছে। সাদা রঙের নাম্বার প্লেট ব্যক্তিগত গাড়িতে এবং সবুজ রঙ ভাড়ায় চালিত যানবাহনে ব্যবহার হয়। যেমন- ঢাকা মেট্রো- গ ৪৫-৭৬৫৯, ঢাকা মেট্রো- খ ৩১-২৫০২ ইত্যাদি। এখানে "ঢাকা মেট্রো" বলতে বোঝানো হয়েছে, গাড়িটি ঢাকা মেট্রোপলিটনের আওতাধীন। পরবর্তী ‘৪৫’ হচ্ছে গাড়িটির রেজিস্ট্রেশন নাম্বার এবং ‘৭৬৫৯’ হচ্ছে গাড়ির সিরিয়াল নাম্বার।
