Most childhood โenrichmentโ keeps kids busy.

In a world full of noise, speed, screens, and constant distraction, children need more than activities. They need tools for focus, patience, pattern recognition, and decision-making.
That is why we are opening two new small-group chess class series at ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ค๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ปโ๐ ๐๐น๐๐ฏ in Mountain View.
Not just to teach kids how pieces move.
To help them learn how to pause, see patterns, evaluate choices, and

Happy 85th birthday to Nona Gaprindashvili โ the first woman in history to earn the full chess Grandmaster title.
Not โwomenโs grandmaster.โ
Grandmaster.
That distinction matters.
Before hashtags, personal brands, sponsorship decks, and โwomen in leadershipโ panels, she sat across the board and made history move.
Womenโs World Chess Champion from 1962 to 1978. A legend from Georgia. A reminder that sometimes the most radical act is not to ask for permission โ but to win so clearly the system has to rewrite the title.
As someone whose life was shaped by chess, I look at Nonaโs legacy with deep respect.
She didnโt just open a door.
She checkmated an assumption.
Happy birthday, Nona.

Kids love it. Parents love it. And the response has been so strong that weโre opening a new ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐๐๐ฐ๐ง๐ผ๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป.
New 8-week Chess4Tots classes start April 29

Ages 3โ5
What I love most about teaching little ones chess is this:
it is ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ท๐๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ผ๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐๐. ๐ก
It is about helping children learn how to focus, listen, take turns, follow directions, ๐ฏ๐๐ถ๐น๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ณ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ, and start thinking one move ahead. ๐
For ages 3โ5, that matters far beyond the board.
If youโve been thinking about introducing your child to chess in a ๐ณ๐๐ป, ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐บ, ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ-๐ณ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฑ๐น๐ ๐๐ฎ๐, this is a great time to join us. โจ

Most adults say they want to keep their mind sharp.
Very few actually put that on the calendar.
Thatโs why Iโm launching Adult Chess Foundations at Chess Queenโs Club โ an 8-week beginner series for adults who want to learn chess in a smart, welcoming, small-group setting.
Why chess?
Because it is one of the rare activities that is strategic, social, creative, and deeply engaging all at once. Research also continues to explore how mentally stimulating activities may support better cognitive aging.
No hype. No intimidation. No giant-ego chess culture.
Just a better way to spend Tuesday night.
Starts Tuesday, April 28
7:00โ8:00 PM
8-week small-group series
$320
If youโve always wanted to learn chess โ or come back to it โ this is for you.

Most people think age 3 is too early for chess. I think it is the perfect window to learn how to separate Market Signal from Noise.
At this age, the world is a chaotic mix of sensory input. Most programs fail because they force mechanics before playโa classic Trust Leak that kills curiosity. They try to teach the 'how' before the 'why.'
In our Chess4Tots program, we donโt start with rigid rules.
By teaching 3-year-olds to filter the board, we are building the foundation for ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ later in life. The ability to ignore the distractions and spot the winning move is a skill that scales from the playroom to the boardroom.
This isn't just a class; itโs an ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐น๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ด๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐ด๐ป๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ of how your child processes information.
Chess4Tots (Ages 3

8-week series starts March 28

Most people see a 3-year-old and think of coloring books and nap time.
While traditional after-school programs wait until children are "school-aged" to introduce structured skill-building, science tells us weโre leaving the most valuable years on the table.
At age 3, the brain is twice as active as an adultโs. It is a sponge for ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐๐, forming over a million new neural connections every single second.
By the time a child reaches age 6, 90% of their brain development is already complete.
This is why we start early.
We aren't just teaching activities; we are
When we introduce critical thinking, motor coordination, and social dynamics during this peak window, it doesn't just stickโit becomes part of their foundational DNA.
The goal isn't to take away their childhood; it's to give them the ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ด๐ป๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐บ๐ผ๐ฟ they need to navigate a complex world later on.
Traditional education views 3-5 as "pre-prep."
We view 3-5 as the ๐ด๐ผ๐น๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ of learning.
Don't wait for the school system to start developing your child's potential. By the time they have a backpack, the most flexible window of growth is already closing.
Are we underestimating what toddlers are capable of?
Iโd love to hear your thoughts. How early is too early to start intentional development? ๐
