Dear Families,
As part of our PBIS and Restorative Practices work, each month our school focuses on a specific character trait or value. These themes are highlighted during our monthly PBIS/RP Kickoff events and throughout the school.
Our monthly themes are:
November – Gratitude
December – Kindness
January – Perseverance
February – Friendship & Relationships
March – Integrity
April – Empathy
May – Teamwork & Collaboration
We would love to make these themes even more meaningful by including stories from our own families and community.
If you or someone in your family has a personal story that connects to one of these monthly themes, we invite you to share it with us. It might be a story about overcoming a challenge, showing kindness, being a good friend, doing the right thing when it was difficult, understanding another person's perspective, or working together toward a common goal.
Families can participate in whatever way feels most comfortable:
1. Write the story and send it to us to share. It can be anonymous.
2. Come to school and speak during a monthly PBIS/RP Kickoff.
3. Record a short video that we can play for students during the kickoff.
Our hope is to help students see that these traits are not just words we talk about at school. They are qualities demonstrated every day by people in their families and communities. Hearing real stories from people they know can make these lessons more personal, meaningful, and memorable.
You do not need to be a professional speaker or have an extraordinary story. Sometimes the most powerful examples come from everyday experiences.
If you have a story you would be willing to share, or would like more information about participating, please contact Cathy O’Malley at [email protected].
Thank you for helping us make our monthly PBIS/RP Kickoffs more meaningful and connected to our families and community.
