Marlee Dewey-Floor Exercise
Marlee Dewey-Half Twist

Athlete Spotlight: Marlee Dewey
Marlee is a Level 7 on our USAG development team, and her favorite event is the floor exercise. She started in Coach Mike’s pre-team class in 2017 at the age of 6 and later joined our development team, where she began her competitive career as a Level 2 and worked hard to move through the levels. She started last season off with an excellent start at the Ozark Mountain Invitational, placing 1st on Floor, 3rd on Beam & Vault, 2nd in the All Around, and qualifying for the 2025 Arkansas State Championships. Sadly, she suffered an ankle injury on the balance beam during her second competition and had to withdraw from competitions for a bit while it healed. With dedication and resiliency, she came back to represent us at state championships, where she placed 7th on Vault with a 9.025 and gave a strong tumbling performance on floor. Way to go!
Marlee is just as sweet as she is sassy and creative to boot. Her free spirited smile is completely infectious! And speaking of her smile, she wins our award for the best “facial expressions” in the gym. Whether flashing that winning smile or shooting the best stink face, she always has the perfect expression for the moment. When you can’t find her in the gym, you’ll find her on the volleyball court or dance floor. She’s a multi-sport athlete who represents her school on the MHJH Bombers Volleyball Team and Bomber Belles Dance Team. She also plays club volleyball for Arkansas Juniors Storm. Marlee is a focused and determined athlete as well as a gifted honors student, and we’re so proud of her accomplishments!

Ani Kincade: Full Twist

Athlete Spotlight: Anistyn Kincade
Ani is a Level 8 on our USAG development team, and her favorite event is the floor exercise. Not only is she our team leader, but also our resident comedian and the “queen of bloopers.” She started in Coach Mike’s preschool class back in 2015 and later moved into our team development program, where she set some early goals for herself. On a goal sheet that she filled out in January of 2020, she listed that she wanted to reach Level 8 by the age of 13/14, Level 9 by 14/15, and Level 10 between 15 & 17. With hard work and perseverance, she’s on track to maintain those goals, and we couldn’t be happier for her!
Ani started last season off with a strong showing at the Ozark Mountain Invitational, qualifying for the Arkansas State Championships and taking 1st on all 4 events and in the all around. Shortly after her second meet, where she placed 1st on beam and in the all around, Ani began to have pain in the heel of her foot. Her season unfortunately had to come to an early end, and she was later diagnosed with a bone bruise/small fracture in her heel that was technically described as an extra bone in her heel. Inflammation and plantar fasciitis have kept her from being fully active, but she’s still in the gym week after week doing what she’s cleared to do. That’s what we call dedication! We can’t wait to see you back in action and continuing toward those goals!
