Spotlight

Meet Leo!

Leo is a 17-month-old Springer Spaniel and is a new member of the Mountain Home Public Schools team! Leo has spent his summer mornings running tracks, and his afternoons training to locate hidden narcotics.

He is trained to identify the source of five different narcotics, and his commands are given in Czech!

You'll likely spot Leo around the district this year as he works alongside his handler, SRO Recktenwald, to help keep our schools safe.

Welcome to the Bomber family, Leo! 💙💛

Congratulations to Mr. Tim Harris, Mr. Dustin Rose, and Ms. Kiara Alvarez for representing Mountain Home Public Schools as presenters at this year's ALE Summer Conference!

The trio shared their presentation, "Growing Student Achievement: Improving ATLAS Scores Through Data-Driven Instruction," showcasing the work happening at Guy Berry College & Career Academy to improve student achievement. Their session focused on using data to identify learning gaps, target instruction, strengthen intervention systems, increase student engagement, and build a culture of achievement that leads to stronger ATLAS results. They also highlighted the importance of collaboration through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), frequent formative assessments, and high-quality, standards-based instruction to help every student succeed.

Presenting at a statewide conference is an incredible opportunity to share successful practices with educators from across Arkansas. Thank you, Mr. Harris, Mr. Rose, and Ms. Alvarez, for your leadership, your dedication to student success, and your commitment to helping educators across the state grow alongside you.
