An estimated 13 million Americans experience PTSD each year, and first responders face an even greater risk due to repeated exposure to trauma throughout their careers. PTSD is not a sign of weakness—it is a human response to extraordinary experiences.
By raising awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging support, we can help ensure those who dedicate their lives to protecting others know they don't have to face their struggles alone.
💚 You are not alone. Help is available. Healing is possible.

🚑 Big congratulations to Nick Huett for passing his National Registry Paramedic exam! 🎉
Nick’s journey looked a little different than some. He waited about 5 months before testing, but he walked in and passed on his first attempt. That says a whole lot about determination, persistence, and trusting the process. 💪
With Nick’s success, our 2025 Paramedic class officially has a 100% NREMT pass rate! 🔥
We are so proud of all of our students and the hard work they’ve put in this year. Paramedic school is exhausting, overwhelming, stressful, and occasionally powered entirely by caffeine and spite 😂 but these students continue to show up and get it done.
Congratulations, Nick! Your ASUMH EMS family is proud of you, and we can’t wait to see what you do out in the field. 🚑🩺

As EMS Week 2026 kicks off with the theme “Improving Outcomes Together,” we wanted to take a moment to recognize just how much our EMS students and instructors have accomplished this year at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.
What a whirlwind this spring semester has been.
Between our AM and PM EMT cohorts, we graduated 20 EMT students, with 16 moving forward into National Registry testing eligibility after completing all program requirements. Those students recently completed practical testing, and we are incredibly proud to say that every single eligible student passed their psychomotor exams. A few stations tried to put up a fight, but our students hit them with that EMS stubbornness and got it done anyway.
Our EMT graduates are now finishing ride time and preparing to take National Registry over the next few months, while our paramedic students are already deep into the summer semester grind of second semester medic life, where caffeine becomes a personality trait and everyone suddenly speaks fluent cardiology.
We also want to give a very special thank you to our evaluator gang who showed up to support our students during practical testing. We had several seasoned EMTs and paramedics volunteer their time, and some even traveled nearly two hours just to come evaluate for our class. That kind of support, mentorship, and commitment to the future of EMS does not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful.
To all of our students, we see the long nights, early mornings, stress, determination, sacrifices, and heart you pour into this profession before you ever step onto an ambulance as licensed providers. We are unbelievably proud of the growth we’ve watched happen this year.
To our instructors and preceptors, thank you for investing your time, knowledge, patience, and mentorship into the future of EMS.
And to everyone working in EMS this week, from EMTs and paramedics to dispatchers, nurses, firefighters, law enforcement, respiratory therapists, physicians, and support staff, thank you for what you do every day for your communities.
Happy EMS Week from the ASUMH EMS Program.
Now hydrate, eat something besides gas station pizza, and please stop saying “it’s been quiet today.”

🚨 EMS AI FIELD TEST — SCENE SIZE-UP REQUIRED 🚨
Alright crew… we’ve got a situation.
Two patients.
Same environment.
Same… questionable life choices.
👉 Assessment Question:
Who wore it better?
Be honest. Your certification depends on it.
(No pressure. Just your entire future. 😂)
Now don’t just glance and scroll—
🎶 Cue “The Pretender” – Foo Fighters 🎶
“What if I say I’m not like the others?”
Yeah… one of these is throwing off the whole differential 👀
And since all EMS students know Mrs. Tasia loves all things AI… well—here’s your chance to prove you do too.
Let's get real for a second—This wasn’t just for laughs. This was done in support of Mrs. Tasia’s sister, Christa, who is currently fighting cancer.
And if you hang around EMS long enough, you learn this quick:
We joke hard… but we show up harder.
💛 So whatever your lane is—prayer, good thoughts, stubborn hope—
send some her way today.
And to the future students creeping this page trying to decide if EMS is for you:
This is it.
Dark humor, chaos, compassion, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder when it matters.
Now quit dodging the question—
👇 Vote like your preceptor is watching over your shoulder

ASUMH is requesting evaluators for Mr. David's (AKA Scrappy) 2025/2026 EMT cohort practical testing on May 12 at 10:00 a.m. with 24 students scheduled to test.
These students are working toward an important milestone in their EMS education, and evaluator support is a vital part of that process. Supporting EMT education not only benefits student success, but also helps build the workforce our communities depend on every day.
And yes, lunch will be provided, because nobody should have to save the future of EMS on an empty stomach.
If you are interested in assisting as a preceptor OR patient please contact Scrap at [email protected]

Please join us in congratulating Cody Haak on passing the NREMT!
He survived the flashcards, the scenarios, the self-doubt, and the absolute nonsense of exam prep. That is no small thing. Cody earned this win, and we are proud to celebrate it with him.
