Happy Friday! Today was our first school spirit dress up day, and our students/staff did not disappoint!

We want to thank Pioneer Federal Credit Union again for their generous donation that provided every student with an MHJH spirit shirt! Days like today wouldn’t have been possible without their help!

We also want to thank the Mountain Home AFB Officers’ Spouses club for their generous donation last year that provided our very popular outdoor volleyball court! As you can see, there is a game going every lunch period!

MHJH has a no cell phone policy and we would like to share with you the positive impact it has had on our school’s culture!

Students are talking to each other during lunch, having real conversations, and laughing! Yes, the lunch room is noisy, but we love seeing our students interact with each other while eating and having academic downtime.

Outside we see soccer games, football games, multiple volleyball games, basketball games, ultimate frisbee games, and last year our students started playing Four Square on the cement squares outside. Well we couldn’t continue to watch them play with an old basketball. So after about two days straight of the Four Square popularity, we decided to buy two new playground balls for them! This is typically a game you would see in our elementary schools or at Hacker, but we were overjoyed to see it come back to the Junior High!

The point is, at one time you would have seen groups of kids sitting together and all staring at their phones. The lunchroom was quieter, but only because conversations were not happening. Now our students are communicating, making new friends, and playing together outside! We absolutely love it!

The last few pictures are of one of our newest elective classes, guitar class! Mr. Jacobsen is our new choir/guitar teacher this year, and his energy is exciting and fun while helping our students learn!

We are incredibly grateful to Pioneer Federal Credit Union for continuing to invest in our students, our school, and our community! Thanks to their generous donation, every incoming 7th grader and new 8th grader received an MHJH spirit shirt to start the school year with a little extra Tiger pride! 🧡

This marks the second year in a row that Pioneer Federal Credit Union has partnered with MHJH to make this possible. We are so thankful for their continued generosity and commitment to our students.
