School Canceled Today, 10/1/2026

Good morning, Divide families. Due to weather and road conditions, Divide ISD is canceling school today. This decision is based as much on the forecast as on what we are seeing right now. Rain is expected to continue throughout the day, and road conditions are likely to get worse, not better. Many of our families live behind low water crossings and draws, and our students travel to school from a large area. Even if a family could make it in this morning, we cannot count on those same roads being safe this afternoon.

Before the school day even began, we were already looking at an attendance rate of about 75% based on families who could not safely make it in.

A big thank you to the families who reached out early this morning. You serve as our eyes on the ground in the outlying areas, and your reports on road and creek conditions help us make the right call for everyone.

Please stay safe, avoid flooded crossings, and remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown.

⚠️ Weather Update from Divide ISD ⚠️

Divide ISD families, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Kerr County from 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 30 through 7:00 PM Friday, October 2.

Forecasters are calling for 2 to 4 inches of rain across the Hill Country, with some spots possibly seeing up to 8 inches. The heaviest rain is expected Thursday through early Friday morning.

We are closely monitoring the forecast and road conditions and will keep you updated. If any changes to our school schedule become necessary, we will post them here on Facebook as quickly as possible and reach out to families directly.

Please keep these safety reminders in mind:

🚫 Turn Around, Don't Drown. Never drive through water over a roadway. Just a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle away.

🌙 Use extra caution at night, when flooded crossings are hard to see.

📱 Have more than one way to receive weather alerts, and make sure emergency alerts are turned on on your phone.

If road conditions make it unsafe for your child to travel to school, please keep them home and call the office at 830-640-3322. Your family's safety comes first.

Stay safe, stay dry, and we'll keep you posted.

🐯🐒 Divide ISD Goes Wild! 🦁🐾

Our Divide Wranglers had an unforgettable day at the Texas Wildlife Park & Education Center, right here in our own backyard in Mountain Home!

The highlight? Every student got to feed a primate right from their own hand! You should have seen the smiles!

Students also got up close with a huge variety of animals, from tigers to prairie dogs and plenty in between. The park is home to big cats, primates, sloths, capybaras, reptiles, birds and more, and their team does a wonderful job helping kids learn about animal care and conservation. Their mission is to inspire people to "love, engage with, act for and protect animals and the places they live," and our kids definitely left inspired!

A huge THANK YOU to the staff at Texas Wildlife Parkfor hosting us and making this such a special hands-on learning experience. We're so lucky to have a gem like this just down the road.

If you're looking for a fun family outing, the park is located off I-10 at Exit 488 and offers guided tours (Wesley did an amazing job everyone learned something) and animal encounters by appointment. Check them out at texaswildlifepark.com!

See You at the Pole 🙏

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

This morning our students, staff, and parents raised the flag and gathered around the pole to pray for our school and community. This year's theme was "Come to Me," and the Hill Country gave us a great sunrise to go with it.

See You at the Pole began in 1990 when a group of teenagers from Burleson, Texas, stopped at three schools one night during a weekend retreat and prayed at the flagpoles. That September, about 45,000 students in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico did the same. By the next year it was around a million. Today millions of students worldwide meet at their flagpoles on the fourth Wednesday of September.

Thanks to everyone who came out this morning.
