3/3/2022 News from the Nest...
We’ve got two Eagles that are a year older today than they were yesterday: Alanna Nesby and Korey Benefield. Happy birthday, ladies! I hope you have a wonderful day!

ELA teachers, I need your list of those students who completed the February reading challenge by next Tuesday.

Also teachers please don’t forget to do your chromebook checks. 8th grade teachers, I’ll get your list to you today.

Book scavenger hunt, day 4. The book quotes are on the door going into the lunchroom, across from Mrs. Sarah Brown’s door, across from Mrs. Buchanan’s classroom, and across from Coach Kribbs on the 400 hall. Here are today’s novel clues….
Sometimes life gives you lemons. The main character of this novel
is a star on the basketball court, and loves his family, but
struggles to “make the shot” when it comes to his twin brother.
The first book in this famous series documents the journey of a
brave young wizard who demonstrates courage as he navigates
a new school, new friends, and new enemies.
This widely read book, and one of the most popular in the media
center, follows the main character’s journey into middle school
and details the same thoughts many of you may have had
throughout your middle school experience!

The book quotes/clues from yesterday were from the following books: Refugee, Beyond the Bright Sea, and Ghost. Once again, 3 young ladies matched the book with the clue and the quote: Elasia Higdon, Daelyn Woods, and Janae Spears. Y’all are just being smarty pants!! I’ll bring the prize to you in a bit. I do want to remind everyone that there will be a grand prize drawing on Monday. Your name goes in once for each day that you matched the book, clues, and quotes.

Today, I hope we’re teaming up with reading by wearing our favorite team attire. Teachers please take pics and email them to me. Tomorrow is Hats off to Reading so wear your favorite “reading” hat!

Congrats to the soccer team on their opening season win over Haralson Co. by a score of 10-0.

Good luck to our track and baseball teams. The track team heads to Bremen for their meet, while the Bremen Blue Devils come here to play baseball.

Apparently Coach Banister and Coach Richardson are challenging the faculty, staff, and student body to raise $1000! Remember…that’s only $3 a person. If we all team up, we will EASILY raise the minimum amount needed for them to shave their boyish faces as smooth as a baby’s butt!! All money raised will go to MZMS athletics!

For the 7th graders planning on going to the Aquarium, be sure to bring your permission form back by this Friday, March 4th. The aquarium is free; however, the food at the Varsity is not included in the trip so you will need money for that. At this time the Varsity is only accepting cards and wireless payments (such as google pay, apple pay, etc.). No Cash.

Aladdin practice this afternoon from 3:30 - 5:00pm.

Teachers, chromebook #597 is missing. Please check your classrooms.

Also, please announce to your 4th period classes that if they have purchased an ice cream with PBIS points, they must show you that purchase before they go to lunch. They cannot show their Chromebooks to Coach Cohen (or whoever else may be taking up money for ice cream in the cafeteria) to prove they actually purchased ice cream.

It’s Friday Eve, Eagles. It’s the 4th beautiful day in a row, which I think is a record, here lately. I’m going to say it again…PUT YOUR CHROMEBOOKS ON CHARGE WHEN YOU GET HOME AND THEN GET OUTSIDE. Fresh air does a body good.
