2025 Club UNIFY Halloween Party!

Our Athletes and Unified Peer Partners joined for an evening of fun full of games, wicked food, and activities!

We played Halloween Would You Rather, Who's Your Mummy, and Zombie Music Chairs. But REVERSE Zombie Musical Chairs was a blast because every round, one chair is removed but no one is eliminated meaning no one is ever excluded. They have to work together to problem solve how to make sure everyone is included! Even with one chair remaining everyone had to be touching the chair or touching a person who is touching the chair!

Our wicked food included severed fingers, monkey brains, puking pumpkin (no photo), kitty litter, and witches brew!

The Spooky Sensory Story was also a favorite with passing around different body parts of our old departed friend, Joe, in complete darkness!

Our athletes competed in the Special Olympics Track and Field Day. Unfortunately due to the rain we did not get to finish all of our events. Here are a few photos from today. Our RAMS represented MVTHS well.

Mt. Vernon Township High School students, Preston Woodrome and Calli Robinson participated in the 1st Annual Frosty Face-Off Polar Plunge Party for Special Olympics! Calli and Preston co-chair the statewide Unified Generation Committee!

Now we challenge other MVTHS organizations, teams, and organizations to join our plunge team next year so we can win the traveling trophy and steal the bragging rights from Centralia HS Student Council!

Respect Week is coming to an end but the inclusion movement is just getting warmed up as this is our Unified 'Evermore' Era!

Today's unified fact of the day is that Respect Week has been celebrated in Illinois and at Mt. Vernon Township High School for over a decade.

Taking this week to acknowledge each other and strengthen friendships helps set us on a path for positivity moving into the spring. Take some time today to reflect on what you have learned, what you want to know more about and how you can make a positive difference in your school and community through the power of inclusion!

Tomorrow is the last day to purchase a Kindness Gram to give to someone who has shown you kindness! The recipients will be able to select their full size candy bar in the Cafeteria during the lunch hours on Friday, only!

RESPECT Week is in full swing at Mt. Vernon Township High School! Unified PE working together to spell RESPECT while being active in a relay race!

Today's unified fact of the day is that Unified Champion Schools is supported and funded by the US Department of Education to provide resources, training, and materials to schools like MVTHS and across the country.

-Banner for everyone to sign the Inclusion Pledge

-Enter name into a drawing for In My Respect Era merchandise (lanyards, bracelets, etc.)

-Purchase Kindness Grams (for $2) to give to others who have shown them kindness. The recipients may show their Kindness Gram to our table in the Media Center AFTER school TODAY to select their full size candy bar!
