Happy National Intern Day! Internships can be immensely powerful growth experiences for students. Just ask Orion Pevehouse '26, who interned last summer with the African American Museum of Iowa in Cedar Rapids and will soon be starting his master's program in library and information science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Orion Pevehouse ’26 leaves Cornell with a full slate of graduate acceptances—every program he applied to offered him a spot. It’s a reflection of the dedication he brought to his studies on the Hilltop.

These experiences are made possible by Cornell's Ingenuity in Action program, which offers funding for internships and facilitates experiential learning for every Cornell graduate.

At the midway point in my time in Philadelphia, I am so excited to report that I’ve been doing great! I am beginning to really like it here and have been getting used to the area. I have been exploring the area each week by going on runs, shopping, or just walking around when I’m bored. I’d al...

Follow Bianca's journey in New York supporting the Chautauqua Institution, a non-profit educational center for creatives. Bianca does more than attend readings; she is mastering professional skills such as networking, event planning and ex*****on, program management, and more. She observes, "assisting Stephine helped me understand the rules and dynamics... and allowed me to lead the team during this Friday’s CLSC Featured Author’s book signing as she placed her confidence in me and my new acquired knowledge."

Cornell's Ingenuity in Action experiential learning funding made this experience possible, opening doors for talented young students like Bianca to dream big and go far.

What a wild week! I was truly nervous at the beginning, but I have thankfully found a rhythm with work. The season technically started last Sunday with the faculty reading at the Hall of Philosophy. The first authors to join us were Italian-Puerto Rican author and comedian Stephanie Ginese who prese...

From San Juan to Denver, Karime Wiesner '29 is chasing her dream of using her Chemistry major to develop drugs and cure disease. Through the Dimensions Program, students contribute to biomedical research as interns at the VA Hospital on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

Being immersed in a fast-paced lab environment is daunting for anyone, but for a first year college student, it is even more impressive! Karime credits the block plan for her ability to learn and adapt quickly.

"I do think that the block plan has altered the way I process information so much that I'm able to grasp difficult concepts (at least to some extent) in a short amount of time."

Our next summer internship highlight features Gracie Park '27, a Kinesiology major from Palo, Iowa, who journeyed across the country to UPenn for an internship in Sports Performance with a focus on strength and conditioning.

Internships not only offer crucial experiential learning opportunities, they also open doors to professional networking. Gracie observes, "Everyone in this career field knows people, so once you have an in with someone, you are able to meet lots of people who can provide opportunities... No matter what, every relationship I build during my time here at the University of Pennsylvania is important because you never know when our paths may cross again."

This summer, Cornell has 12 student interns across the world doing incredible things for organizations and employers. Today we are featuring Mardo Ntonku '27, a Business Management and French major, who is interning at the Catherine McAuley Center in Cedar Rapids IA. He works in the Language Lab teaching English to recent immigrants.

"This experience is already teaching me valuable lessons about intercultural communication and professional development... Cornell College has prepared me well for this experience through my coursework in French, communication, and collaborative learning. My academic experiences have helped me become more open-minded and comfortable working with people from different backgrounds."

Stay tuned for more summer intern features over the coming weeks!

Congratulations to Isaac vanWestrienen for winning the national title in the 10000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships last night! 👏

For those of you who followed along with internship blogs last summer, you might remember that Isaac listed a goal at the end of his final blog post: to become a men's cross country national champion in November. While he placed third in that cross country contest, we hope this different national championship title is just as sweet a victory!

Well the summer has finally come to a close. The past 9 weeks have been full of work and running and I have loved every second of it. I am currently sitting on the couch at my house watching the US outdoor track championships and waiting to leave for work in about an hour. The past week was one of m...
