From Mount Vernon Knight to Mount Vernon school leader. ❤️

Destination: College alum Brandon White’s journey has taken him from the basketball courts of Mount Vernon, through college, mentoring and education — and now back home.

Brandon recently began a new chapter as Assistant Principal at Lincoln Elementary School in Mount Vernon, a homecoming nearly two decades in the making.
“Returning to Mount Vernon is truly a full-circle moment. I am living my dream.”

Along the way, Destination: College connected Brandon with people who believed in his potential, nurtured his talents and opened doors. Today, he’s returned to his community to do the same for a new generation.
And his message to Mount Vernon’s young people says it all:

“Nothing but greatness comes from Mount Vernon!”

There’s much more to Brandon’s remarkable journey.

It starts with a conversation.

Team Reads is underway at Destination: Collegr, bringing our student-athletes and volunteers together in small groups for purposeful discussions, information sharing and - most importantly - relationship building.

This year, we’ve introduced a new eight-week Scope & Sequence for Team Reads, giving volunteers greater purpose behind their discussions with student-athletes while helping those connections develop over time.

These photos capture what Team Reads is really about: volunteers showing up, students engaging, and relationships taking shape one conversation at a time.

And there’s still room at the table.
We are currently looking g for additional Team Reads volunteers on Mondays and Wednesdays. If you’d like to spend time with our student-athletes and become a part of the Destination: College community, we’d love to hear from you.

Interested? Visit the link in our bio to learn more about volunteering with Destination: College.

A college visit is more than seeing a campus🎓
Destination: College student-athletes recently visited St. Thomas Aquinas College, accompanied by our Director of College Success, Saskya Molina, for the opportunity to experience a college environment firsthand.

Campus visits help students move beyond researching colleges on a screen. They can see what a classroom feels like, explore the campus, ask questions, and begin thinking about what they want from their own college experience.

Most importantly they can start to picture themselves there.

Experiences like these are an important part of the college journey - helping our student-athletes explore their options and make more informed choices about what comes next.

Follow along as our student-athletes continue their journey toward college and beyond✨

We are incredibly grateful to the for awarding us a $580 Community Grant! 🙌

Because of this generous support, we will purchase a Meta Quest 3 Virtual Reality device that will allow our student-athletes to take immersive college tours through Campus360, including SUNY and New York State private colleges.

This technology removes barriers to college exploration and gives our students greater access to the information they need to find the right fit for their futures.

Together, we are empowering student-athletes to achieve their dreams and build brighter futures. 💙🎓
