Once you’re an MVNU art student, you are part of something bigger for life. MVNU graduates Kimberly Rhyan, Katie Lane, Tina Corrigan, Laura Tappen, Melinda Harter and Crispin Webb Started ARTalum in 2003. As a student, Rhyan personally benefited from an anonymous benefactor who supported her senior art project. This act spurred her and other alumni to begin the endowment to support current art stu
dents. ARTalum organizes opportunities to:
Connect current MVNU art and design students interested in supporting the next generation of artists. Engage and recruit (new) ARTalum members to get involved in the alumni association and make decisions about the future goals of the society. About the Annual ARTalum Exhibit & Silent Auction:
In a celebration of art-making and as a chance to give back to the art community that supported them as developing artists, alumni donate their works for the exhibit and silent auction, which features paintings, sculpture, ceramics, prints, mixed media and photography. The ARTalum Society and the MVNU Art Department created an endowment to use the proceeds from the silent auction to support incoming freshmen in beginning their art exploration and current art majors in the production of their senior projects. The endowment was officially named the Crispin Webb Memorial Art Scholarship in 2008 in honor of 2002 MVNU graduate Crispin Webb who died unexpectedly in November 2006.
