Thank you to my baby, Rickie Garland, and my Principal, Mr. Newbey, for the beautiful flowers, recognizing me as RTA’s Teacher of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year! We were recognized tonight at the Board of Education 🥰

I am being recognized as Teacher of the Year for Rebecca Turner Academy. I have a hard time accepting praise for all I do, but I know I deserve it. Thank you to many of you who help me support my students Tish Swain-King for donating lots of clothes, boots, and school supplies, Lenise M Love for donating so many clothes and shoes, Jennie Davidson for donating lots of clothes, Beverly Burgess Hutchins for donating a brand new keyboard for my student, Nissa Hairston for donating money, helping me buy breakfast for all students taking the ELA Regents (Scores always on point!), Henry Gray from the VFW Post on 3rd Avenue for EVERYTHING you’ve done to support me and RTA and so many others, including my Sister-Cousin Dawn Poteat, who will braid my students hair for free- anything she can to help me help my students. I humbly thank you and appreciate those who bought $12 bags of fundraising popcorn and much more! I accept the honor for all of us 😌❤️
