In just 3 days, Skagit Valley College's Whidbey Island Campus graduates will celebrate the culmination of years of hard work and determination. The following day, Mount Vernon students will celebrate theirs. 🎓

Skagit Valley College was honored to unveil a new Story Pole at the Whidbey Island Campus as part of our Centennial celebration. Crafted by Swinomish Master Carver Kevin Paul, the Story Pole stands as a powerful reflection of culture, community, and the enduring relationships that connect us to this place and its people.

Students, employees, alumni, and community members gathered to witness the dedication and celebrate this meaningful addition to campus. The unveiling provided an opportunity to honor Indigenous traditions, recognize the artistry and vision behind the work, and reflect on the shared history that continues to shape Skagit Valley College.

Thank you to Kevin Paul for this beautiful contribution to the Whidbey Island Campus. As we celebrate 100 years of serving our communities, we are grateful for the stories, traditions, and connections that help guide our future.

Skagit Valley College students Jashpal Samran and Altynay Trofimchuk have been named 2026 World Impact Scholars by Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the international honor society for high-achieving community college students.

The prestigious scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to creating positive change in their communities. Jashpal and Altynay were selected from a competitive pool of students across the country and will receive scholarship support as they continue their educational journeys.
