The major fosters an understanding of English and American literary history while enabling students to concentrate in literature, creative writing, or film

The Department of English and Creative Writing offers a broad range of courses for majors and non-majors alike, including off-campus courses ranging from Chicago to Namibia and courses that emphasize global and social concerns such as “AIDS Literature, Film, and Social Theory” and “American Nature Writers.” The major fosters a general understanding of English and American literary history while enabling students to concentrate in one of three areas: literature, creative writing, or film studies.
