🖤100 Days of Homecoming – Day 34
A Building Full of Memories

Since we recently highlighted the opening of our current Middle School, we thought it would be fun to look back at a building that holds a special place in the hearts of so many Yellow Jackets—the Mulberry Street School.

For some, it was their middle school. For others, it was their high school. No matter when you attended, the building was filled with memories, friendships, and experiences that helped shape generations of Mount Vernon students.

Do you remember the iconic steps leading up to the front entrance? Or perhaps the long hallway that stretched back toward the cafeteria and music rooms? Every corner of the building seemed to have a story.

Now we want to hear from you!
What was your favorite memory of the Mulberry Street School?
Was it a classroom, a teacher, a sporting event, a performance, or just spending time with friends in the halls?

Share your memories in the comments and help us celebrate a building that was such an important part of Mount Vernon history.

Finally, an answer to the “Why are the Yellow Jackets orange and black?“ question!

Super grateful they changed that original mascot. That would not have aged well…

Happy 100th, MTV!

A salute to our fallen classmate, Army Specialist Ryan A. Martin, who was killed in action in 2004 while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was a member of the Ohio National Guard’s 216th Engineering Battalion. This monument is the Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial, located in Sunbury.

Thanks to classmate Brett Steinhauser for the photo of today’s Memorial Day ceremony.
