Meet CODI
Our Categorically Operational Disposal Instrument, or CODI, was a way to encourage recycling within households. The structure housed two bins, one with recyclable materials and one with trash. A rotating platform connected to a Raspberry Pi and camera used image detection to place the item into the correct bin.

The class of 2018 engineering majors researched a real-world problem, and then designed, fabricated, and tested a prototype solution. The issue that they worked to help alleviate, was the everyday difficulties elderly and disabled individuals face when attempting to rise from a seated position to a standing position. In just 18 days, the proposed pneumatic chair went from an idea to reality. Detailed CAD models were made and then tested using finite element analysis, before precision CNC machines were employed to fabricate the individual parts, in order to create the finalized prototype.
