Each year during Homecoming weekend, Cornell Athletics inducts a new Hall of Fame class at the signature C Cub Breakfast. To celebrate and honor this year’s inductees, we’ll be featuring each member of the Hall of Fame class.

Our first inductee is Rikki Mulloy Trombley ’15. Trombley is Cornell’s only basketball player named first-team All-Conference four times. The guard is listed 32 times in Cornell’s record books, including 1,478 career points, a school record that stands today. Join us in congratulating Rikki on this well-deserved honor!

Today is ! Did you know the famous aviatrix visited Cornell in 1933? According to The Cornellian, Amelia Earhart delivered a lecture to a large audience, detailing her “perilous Atlantic flight—from an uneventful takeoff that caused her no anxiety whatsoever to a subsequent return to terra firma on an Irish farm.”

She also described her early flying experiences, which began in 1920 with pilot Frank Hawks. At the time, she had never made a parachute jump but had done some stunt flying. After answering a range of student questions, Earhart declared, “Gliders are lots of fun.”

It’s always exciting to look back at Cornell’s history and see the remarkable figures who have visited campus.
