As the weather cools and the need for warmth grows, the Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon is once again teaming up with Gault’s Plaza Cleaners for the annual Coats for Kids drive this October.

This community initiative asks residents to donate new or gently used coats—especially children’s sizes—to keep Knox County children warm throughout the winter months.

Individuals can drop off coats in October at convenient locations throughout Knox County including East Elementary!

🦅⚙️ STEAM Club is BACK!

Our Intermediate STEAM Club kicked off the year with the Pringles Ring STEM Challenge!

Students put their engineering skills to the test as they worked together to build a freestanding ring using only Pringles—no glue, tape, or other supports!

There was plenty of problem-solving, perseverance, teamwork, and a little trial and error along the way! We loved watching our East Eagles experiment, adjust their designs, and keep trying until they found success.

What a crunch-tastic way to start another year of STEAM Club! 🦅 Pringles

🍎 Learning is A…peeling in Kindergarten!
Mrs. Joseph’s kindergarten class has been busy learning about the life cycle of an apple tree in science!

The learning continued at their classroom Apple Orchard Market, where students practiced counting, one-to-one correspondence, number identification, and cooperation while shopping and playing together. Hands-on learning makes everything a little more A…peeling! 🍎
