Summersun Montessori School is a non-profit, private school for children ages two to six years old, harnessing the power of the Montessori Method that was founded in the 1800's by Dr. Maria Montessori. The philosophical foundation of the Montessori approach is based on the premise that education should be an aide to life. In order to develop their physical, intellectual and spiritual powers to the fullest, children must have freedom - a freedom to be achieved through order and self-discipline. Summersun offers a pre-primary program for children ages 2-3, and a primary class that combines preschool students and kindergarten. The pre-primary program is built on the belief that learning should begin before a formal preschool, so pre-primary students work to build a foundation for their future education. The primary class focuses on practical life exercises, in addition to the traditional academic lessons of math, language, geography, art and science. Montessori students have a broad horizon of experiences during their time at Summersun, from learning to read and write to studying the development of butterflies grown in their classroom. Summersun also offers a child care program in the summer months, offering educational experiences outside of the academic year. The summer program is geared toward students ages 2-6 years old and mixes learning opportunities with exciting summer adventures. We are located in Mount Vernon WA which is part of Skagit County.

🎒🌿 Back to School at Summersun Montessori!

We are so excited to welcome our students back on Tuesday, September 8th! Our classrooms have been freshly organized and thoughtfully prepared, and our teachers can’t wait to fill them with learning, laughter, and new memories. 💛

To help make the first morning as smooth as possible, please have your children arrive ready to start their day by 8:30 AM.

A consistent arrival time will help everyone settle in comfortably and begin the new school year on a positive note.

We are so excited to see all of our returning families and welcome our new friends to the Summersun family! Here’s to a wonderful new school year! 📚✨

☀️🌈💦What a wonderful summer we had at Summersun Montessori School! Our summer program was filled with fun, laughter, and so many special memories. From colorful Tie-Dye Day to exciting water play and creative face painting, the children enjoyed every moment. ☀️💦🎨

June has been full of sunshine, laughter, and exciting new adventures at Summersun Montessori School! We wrapped up a wonderful school year and jumped right into the start of our summer program with smiling faces and lots of fun. The children enjoyed our first water play days of the season, splashing, exploring, and cooling off together while making lasting summer memories. We also spent time creating heartfelt Father's Day gifts and cards, celebrating all the amazing dads and father figures in our children's lives. We can't wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store as we continue learning, playing, and growing together!

As we wrap up another wonderful year at Summersun Montessori, our hearts are full reflecting on such a meaningful final week of school. We celebrated our incredible kindergarten graduates as they took their next big step with confidence, kindness, and so much growth.

We also gathered for our Impact Art Celebration, honoring the many people who have inspired, encouraged, and impacted our children’s lives through art, creativity, and self-expression. It was a beautiful reminder of the joy, imagination, and connection that art brings to our community. Special thank you to Ms. Jules and Ms. Alicia on their hardwork putting together this beautiful art collaboration.

Thank you to our students, families, and teachers for making this school year so special. Wishing everyone a fun, restful, and memory-filled summer!
