We are heading home from an inspiring conference in Toronto at Sigma’s 37th International Research Congress. Dr. Garee presented her work on loneliness, and Drs. Gregg and Adu presented posters about their work through the Fairbanks Center for Global Engagement. We also had some fun while we were there!

Brandon Mellott at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital is the recipient of this years’ Clinical Leadership Award. The MVNU nursing students and faculty selected him based on his demonstration of excellence in mentoring, exhibiting characteristics of professional nursing and role modeling leadership in the clinical setting.

Last Saturday, May 9, we celebrated the graduation of 14 senior nursing students! The Thursday before graduation, we held our traditional Commissioning Ceremony, which is always a very special time of honoring our students and commissioning them to live out their calling as nurses. Our students are exceptional, and we are confident that they will be wonderful nurses who leave a lasting impact on their patients and the profession of nursing!

Today is the start of National Nurses Week! The week-long celebration ends May 12, as a commemoration of Florence Nightengale's birthday. This year we celebrate and reflect on the impact of our past and future graduates on advancing the profession of nursing. We are so very proud of all that you are doing to provide excellent nursing care and transform health care!

Today's senior spotlight is Alivia Schmink! After graduation, Alivia will be moving to Madison, WI and working as a Neuro and Trauma Nurse. Her favorite memories from MVNU are getting to know her classmates and meeting her best friends Krista, Lily, & Madi!
