JROTC Cadet Sutter Poe recently enlisted in the U.S. Airforce Special Warfare as a Tactical Air Control Party Specialist (TACP) for 6 years. In September, he will train at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Luke Justice, a Montgomery County High School Senior and member of the JROTC program, son of Andrea and Jim Justice has enlisted in the Army National Guard simultaneous membership program (SMP) which provides a scholarship for four years at the University of Kentucky. While attending UK, he will serve as an enlisted Soldier for the Army National Guard going to drill one weekend a month and two weeks during the summer. He will be paid as an E5/Sergeant for those drills. He will also be enrolled in the UK ROTC program and upon successful completion, be commissioned as a (2LT) second Lieutenant in the Army National Guard.

A couple outstanding individual efforts today. In Armed Individual Drill Cadet Sergeant First Class Kacie Taulbee placed 2nd overall and the last female standing in a field of over 150 competitors. In Unarmed Drill Cadet Sergeant First Class Alexis Fugate placed 4th overall in a field of over 200 competitors.

When two teams have the last name of Indians and both are from Montgomery Counties but in different states sometimes things happen during trophy presentations.
Regardless extremely proud to announce the Drill Team led by Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Sutter Poe placed 3rd overall in todays challenging competition. Beyond proud of these young people.

The Drill Team led by Cadet Master Sergeant Sutter Poe with Cadet Kacie Taulbee, Cadet Tristan Taulbee, Cadet Luke Justice, Cadet Brianna Johnson, Cadet Jennyfer Enriquez, Cadet Madison Lewis, Cadet Dalton Wagers, Cadet Carley Baker, Cadet Jonathan Williams, Cadet Freddy Vera, Cadet Kierra Taulbee, Cadet Bryleigh Allen and Cadet Mary Hart performed well against some fierce competition. Extremely proud of both groups. Great group of young adults and future leaders.

The ”Indian Battalion” is competing at Louisville Male today against 23 other teams. The Color Guard (Cadet Sergeant First Class Kacie Taulbee, Cadet Sergeant Tristan Taulbee, Cadet Corporal Luke Justice, and Cadet Master Sergeant Sutter Poe) just completed their sequence and did an amazing job.

The Drill Platoon led by Cadet Master Sergeant Sutter Poe and 12 other Cadets will perform in a little while. These Cadets have worked extremely hard and are representing well.

The Cadets of the Indian Battalion had a very productive weekend at the Morehead State University competition.

The Cadets won the fitness event and had the top rated male and female in the entire competition. We placed 3rd place in both Drill and Ceremony and Color Guard.

Teams from GRC, West Carter, Rowan County, Henry Clay, and Mason County all competed in the event.
