Thank you to everyone who came out for Steelpan Basics last night! 🥁

Whether you'd never picked up a pan stick before or you'd been curious about steelpan for years, you showed up and gave it a try.

One of our favorite moments from the night: an attendee brought her friends along to celebrate her birthday by learning steelpan together, and by the end of the evening the whole room was pulling out steelpan notes right alongside her.

If you missed this one, you get another shot. Steelpan Basics returns November 20 at CAFE's program site in Mount Rainier. No experience needed, just curiosity.

Two ensembles. One truck. A whole lot of steelpan pride.

This past Saturday, PanTones and Positive Vibrations Youth Steel Orchestra traveled to Eager Park in Baltimore for the Trinidad & Tobago Steelpan Association of MD's Annual Steelpan Music Festival, sharing the stage with Harbor Lights Pan Ensemble and T&T Baltimore Steel Orchestra.

Thank you to the Trinidad & Tobago Steelpan Association of MD for inviting our young musicians into this celebration of steelpan heritage. And a proud moment for CAFE: founder Lorna Green was honored among this year's awardees.

Before steelpan is an instrument, it's a story. Born from ingenuity and community, it remains one of the only instruments invented in the 20th century, and on September 18, that story continues right here at CAFE.
Never played before? Perfect. Our Steelpan Basics Workshop is built for first-timers, no experience required. Just curiosity and a willingness to try something new. 🥁
Join us September 18, 7–9 PM, at our Mt. Rainier location. Space is limited to 15 students so every participant gets real time on the instrument.
