October is National Bullying Prevention Month — a time to come together as a community to promote kindness, respect and a sense of belonging for every student.

Throughout the month, we’ll share resources and highlight how our schools work to prevent bullying and create positive, supportive school communities.

We’re kicking things off with a series of infographics that break down the different forms bullying can take. Because recognizing what bullying looks like is an important first step toward preventing it.

Over the past week, students at Frost Elementary School brought in pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and plenty of school spirit for the Colossal Coin Collection – and their generosity added up to an incredible $1,783.29!

The funds will support the Frost PTO as they continue to enhance activities and create new opportunities for our Falcons.

Beyond the fundraising, the weeklong challenge was also a fun way for students to put their math skills into practice: comparing coin values, finding different ways to make a dollar and learning a little more about the coins they use every day.

A huge thank-you to our Frost students, families and staff for making the Colossal Coin Collection such a success! That's a whole lot of cents for a great cause!

Our staff is getting into the new season of Dancing with the Stars by casting their votes for their favorite couple!

The leaderboard may change as the season progresses, but one thing is certain: Frost staff is ready to bring a little more sparkle, friendly competition and ballroom excitement to their week.

: A Mural You Can Touch

If you’ve ever walked through the foyer at Frost Elementary School, you may have noticed a pretty unique piece of art: an untitled stone mural featuring the heads and arms of 25 children reaching out from the wall.

The sculpture was created by Colorado artist Mary Ann Lohman (and cousin of then-principal Gregg Crocker) and installed during the 1999-2000 school year. Its theme? Diversity.

When the sculpture was installed, Frost celebrated the many backgrounds and cultures represented in its school community. In fact, Frost was the first school in District 21 to offer bilingual classes in both Polish and Spanish.

And there’s a fun detail about the sculpture: Lohman specifically designed it to be touched. So when students run their hands over the artwork, they’re interacting with it exactly as the artist intended.

More than 25 years later, the sculpture remains a part of Frost’s story — and a reminder that the things that make our schools different are often what make them special.

There was something especially meaningful about this first day of school for me.

As we wrapped up the first day today, I found myself filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the opportunity to lead this incredible school and for the students, staff and families who make Frost such a special place each and every day.

In case you didn't know, this was my final first day of school as your principal, and while that brings plenty of emotions, I am choosing to focus on what matters most: the memories we will make together.

Today was filled with the smiles, excitement and energy that make the first day so special. And I am so excited for one final great year at Frost – one more year of welcoming students through our doors, celebrating their growth, cheering them on, laughing together and creating the moments that make this school so special.

Because...it's a Falcon thing. It's the spirit, pride and sense of community that make Frost what it is. And together, we SOAR – supporting one another, trying new things, celebrating successes and making memories along the way.

Thank you, Frost, for allowing me the privilege of being part of this community. I am so grateful for every moment and can't wait to see what this final year has in store for us.

One last day down. One incredible year ahead.

STORIES WE RAN OUT OF TIME TO TELL IN 2025-26: What began as a small recess activity led by a handful of fifth graders with dreams of becoming YouTubers has grown into Frost’s News Club.

Now in its fifth year, the club gives fourth- and fifth-grade students the chance to create twice-monthly video broadcasts for the Frost community. The club rotates 12-20 students through roles in front of and behind the camera. Together, they produce segments featuring school reminders, interviews, celebrations and student-created content.

Beyond announcements, the program has become a space for confidence-building, collaboration and creativity, especially for students finding their voice through public speaking and production work. Families also contribute by sharing photos and moments from home that are featured in broadcasts.

What started as a simple idea inspired by student-led videos has become a powerful platform for ownership, connection and school pride.
