HUGE NEWS: Breakfast will be free for all students this school year, beginning October 1st. To make this permanent, I've introduced legislation that would make breakfast and lunch free every year for our students.

How educators can help students unpack emotions in the wake of troubling news events in a way that clears space for learning.

In one of our most recent posts, we shared that a letter to the board would be read about our position on the return to school. It was not read. Below is that letter:
________________posted a statement that he received a "phone call from another very reliable source". He goes on to make an erroneous statement. _________________ states that his source informed him that I, as the union president, am pushing for all online. This statement is incorrect and inaccurate. Neither the union, nor I have been pushing for all online. To post such an inaccurate statement is irresponsible. He should name his reliable source so that the union can address this person specifically. I certainly hope that his source is not a member of this board trying to cause problems between the union and the district. Again, neither the union, nor I have been pushing for all online! Hopefully the district administration can clear up this inaccurate posting.
Thank you
Terri Remaley, President, MPAEA

In a recent post by a parent, rallying against full time cyber learning, the parent alleged that the teachers union is pushing for full online. Nothing could be further from the truth. We want to be back in our classrooms teaching.

Just some information about this post:

"There is a special meeting Friday at 6:00 and they will be voting to go all online for either the first month or first nine weeks of school. At least that is what came of the meeting. They can always change it again like they did the last time.
Even though most teachers want to go back FULL TIME, the teachers union is pushing for online.
Please stop playing politics with our tax money and more importantly our children!
Reach out to the school board members!!!!"

This is not a true statement. The MPAEA is not advocating for on-line for all students. The decision of how the school year will start is completely up to the school board. The teachers are ready to return to school and are anxious to begin educating our students again. Regardless of how the district decides to begin school, the teachers will be ready to provide the best education for our students!
