The Chapel Hill High School and Jr. High Cross Country teams competed Saturday at the Gilmer Invitational. The meet gave runners an opportunity to compete against strong competition.
The Varsity Boys turned in an impressive performance, finishing 6th as a team! The boys were led by Moises Netro, who finished 4th overall with a time of 17:38. Andres Delgado followed with a time of 19:07, finishing 19th overall. Sloan Abbott ran 20:28, while Jose Renteria finished in 20:33. Diego Cedillo and Gavin Swafford rounded out the varsity boys with times of 23:34 and 23:52, respectively.
The JV Boys were represented by Javier Chaves and Nathan Martinez. Javier had a strong showing, finishing 10th overall with a time of 21:18, while Nathan crossed the finish line in 26:24, placing 52nd overall.
The Varsity Girls were led by Elizabeth McKellar, who finished 21st overall with a time of 14:46. Kaelynn Russell crossed the finish line in 17:00, followed by Kimberlee Carter with a time of 19:05.
In the Junior Varsity Girls race, Viktorya Fortenberry posted a time of 24:05, finishing 41st overall.
The Junior High Girls had a strong showing with 15 runners competing. Keira Rosenthal led the team with an impressive 13:59, finishing 31st overall. She was followed by:

The Junior High Boys were led by Josue Barboza, who ran 13:43 to finish 23rd overall. Axel Gonzales finished in 14:29, while Fernando Vasquez, Caleb Flippo, Riley Crawford, and Wyatt Goodwin all competed for the team.
Overall, the Gilmer Invitational provided a great first test for the program. With the season just beginning, the runners showed plenty of determination and gave the coaching staff a strong foundation to build on as the season continues.
