Serving third-fifth, our focus is on student learning and shaping a future grounded in resilience, integrity, responsibility, problem-solving, and compassion. Pleasant Community School District, located in southeastern Iowa at 801 E Henry St. in Mt. Pleasant. As of 2024, we proudly serve students in third through fifth grade, with approximately 375 students across six sections per grade level. Mt.
Pleasant CSD serves around 1,750 students district-wide. At Van Allen, our top priority is student learning and helping each child reach their full potential. We focus on meeting the diverse needs of all students through differentiated instruction and research-based practices. We also provide additional support services, including School-wide Title, Special Education, Talented and Gifted, and English as a Second Language. Our staff is dedicated to ongoing growth and development, regularly collaborating in professional learning communities to continuously improve teaching and learning. Through consistent teaching, modeling, and practice, Van Allen students are empowered to achieve without limits, embodying the values of resilience, integrity, compassion, responsibility, communication, and problem-solving—traits that define what it means to be a Portrait of a Panther.
