TONIGHT: We kick of our Critical Engagements series with a panel discussion by CMU alumni featuring Detroit! What does a great American city actually look like? Who gets to tell its story? What does a small-city university owe the state it serves? The panels will be moderated by Rhonda Welsh, Executive Director of Detroit Outreach.

Check out additional events with Rhonda Welsh on Friday.

Twenty-five middle school students from Boryeong, South Korea, spent 3.5 weeks at Central Michigan University this summer taking classes and learning about American culture.

The students attended traditional classes during the day and completed adventures in culture on nights and weekends. They worked on improving their speaking, reading, and writing of English with lessons and vocabulary focused on education, travel and hobbies, and conversational exchanges. They traveled to Mackinac Island, experienced the indigenous history of Michigan, went tubing down the Chippewa River, viewed the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and experienced American baseball.

CMU–Boryeong Cultural and Language Camp is a joint project between the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the College of Business Administration. This is the second summer CMU has hosted the camp.
