What if treatment could get to the root of the problem sooner?

When important information stays undisclosed, therapy can only address what everyone knows about. Oxbow uses the polygraph as part of treatment to help identify concerns that may otherwise remain hidden.

A strong relationship between a therapist and a young person is incredibly important, but even a great therapist can’t know everything a teen may be keeping to themselves.

Young people may test the waters before sharing difficult information, watching closely to see how an adult will react.

That’s one reason Oxbow incorporates the polygraph early in treatment. By helping uncover information that may not have been disclosed, the treatment team can start from a more complete picture and spend less time guessing about what needs to be addressed.

It’s a recording instrument that measures physiological responses, and those responses can provide important information when someone knowingly withholds the truth.

Sometimes parents notice that something has changed before they know exactly what the change means.

Increased secrecy, withdrawal, concerning behaviors, or difficulty communicating can leave parents wondering what to do next, especially when a new school year brings new stressors and expectations.

You don't have to have all the answers before reaching out for support. Recognizing that something has changed is a place to start.

You can’t work on what you’re not willing to be honest about.

For Oxbow alumni, the polygraph wasn’t about “catching” them in a lie. It became part of the process of opening up, taking accountability, and creating the foundation of trust needed for real treatment.

Sometimes, getting better starts with being willing to tell the whole story.
