Now Hiring: Family Support Specialist – Henry County
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Specialist to join our team based in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
This full-time position partners with families using the Parents as Teachers curriculum to promote healthy child development, strengthen parent-child relationships, and support family well-being.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing personalized home visits focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being
• Building trusting relationships with families while empowering them through their strengths
• Conducting developmental screenings, family assessments, and goal planning
• Connecting families with community resources and support services
• Collaborating with local agencies and recruiting families into the program
• Facilitating parent-child group connections and educational opportunities
• Maintaining accurate documentation and participating in ongoing professional development
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, social work, health, psychology, or a related field (or equivalent)
• Experience working with young children and/or families preferred
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and effectively with families from diverse backgrounds
• Computer proficiency and strong record-keeping skills
• Must obtain Parents as Teachers Family Support Certification within one year of hire

🕒 Position: Full-Time
💲 Wage: $22.00/hour
