When parents model healthy boundaries, respect for others, consent, and open communication, children learn important lessons about relationships and personal safety. 💡🌟
The way adults respond to questions, respect a child's voice, and create trust at home can help build the foundation children need to recognize concerns and seek help when they need it.
Parents play a powerful role in prevention because some of the most important lessons are taught through everyday actions. 💙

Summer often brings camps, sleepovers, vacations, afternoons with friends, and more time away from regular routines. ☀️💙
While these moments create opportunities for fun and connection, they can also create moments where adults need to stay intentional about child safety. Knowing who is supervising, asking questions, staying involved, and keeping communication open can help create safer environments for children all summer long.
Prevention does not require perfection. Often, it starts with small conversations and informed adults.

One of the most harmful myths about child sexual abuse is that it only happens “somewhere else.”
The reality is that child sexual abuse can happen in any community, regardless of income level, location, race, religion, or background. It can happen in neighborhoods that feel safe. In trusted spaces. In communities where people believe, “That would never happen here.”
Prevention starts when adults move beyond assumptions and choose awareness, education, and proactive action instead. Every child deserves safe environments. Every community has a role to play in protecting children. 💙

Summer routines change and so do children’s online habits. ☀️💙
More free time online can mean more opportunities for connection, but also more opportunities for risk.
Staying involved does not have to start with fear. Sometimes it starts with simply staying curious, asking questions, and keeping communication open. Small conversations now can make a big difference later.

CSAM stands for child sexual abuse material. This term refers to any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor, including photos, videos, or explicit messages. CSAM is illegal and should always be reported.
As technology evolves, so do the risks children face online. AI generated exploitation, manipulated images, and deepfake content have made digital safety conversations even more important. Many adults may not realize that altered or AI generated sexualized images involving minors still contribute to harm and exploitation.
Understanding what CSAM is and recognizing the growing risks online helps adults respond more responsibly and create safer digital environments for children.
If you encounter suspected CSAM online, report it to the CyberTipline at NCMEC.org.

Prevention starts with conversations many adults were never taught how to have. Talking about boundaries. Grooming. Body safety. Consent. Warning signs.
These conversations can feel uncomfortable, but discomfort cannot matter more than a child’s safety.
The truth is, when adults understand how abuse happens, we are far more equipped to recognize risks, interrupt harmful behaviors, and protect children before harm occurs.

“Once we understand that it takes a village to abuse a child, we can empower an army of adults in that same village to safeguard children.”
Organizations, schools, faith communities, and youth serving programs all play a role in prevention. Culture matters. Training matters. Adults willing to speak up matter.
Prevention begins long before a crisis. It begins with informed adults creating environments where children are protected and concerns are taken seriously.

Child sexual abuse is almost always made possible by a community of adults who have the power to intervene but choose not to.
