🌮 Round Two: Afternoon Edition! 🍪

Our afternoon Educational Careers crew proved that name-game energy stays high all day long! Just like the morning class, these future educators spent their session warming up their classroom management skills and getting to know each other fast.

The task? Share your name and a favorite food that starts with the same letter. The creativity didn’t disappoint—we had everything from Arby’s to Starbucks heading around the circle as students practiced the art of making every future learner feel known and valued. 🍎✏️

🍎 Alphabet Appetizers in the Classroom! 🍕

Our GI-TEC Educational Careers students are already diving into the essentials of strong teaching: building relationships! To practice for the day they welcome dozens of new faces into their future classrooms, today’s warm-up focused on learning names fast.

Students went around the room sharing their names alongside a favorite food starting with the exact same letter. From Apples to Tacos (and plenty of Elephant Ears in between), they’re building community one name—and one snack—at a time. 📚✨

🏡 Building Homes, Building Futures! 🛠️✨

Did you know the GI-TEC School House Project is a hands-on, two-year initiative where Construction Trades and Interior Design students build a full-sized home from the ground up? 🛏️🔨

From framing and finishing to working alongside industry professionals, our students gain real-world experience that prepares them for successful careers as designers, decorators, and contractors.

We are thrilled to celebrate a very special milestone for our 46th house build! 🎉

This home was recently purchased by a wonderful couple who are both Mt. Pleasant Public Schools (MPPS) alumni with ties right back to GI-TEC. Seeing former students come full circle to purchase a house built by the next generation of GI-TEC trade and design students is what community is all about. 🏠💙

Congratulations to the new homeowners, and incredible job to all the hardworking students and instructors who made Build #46 a reality! 👏👏

GI-TEC Business Management students are kicking off the year by developing ideas for the businesses they’ll build throughout the year—figuring out their vision, personality, and what will make their businesses stand out. 💼✨

GI-TEC Culinary Arts students got an exciting first look at their industry-designed kitchen today! 🔥❄️

Students explored the different refrigerators, cooling and heating equipment, prep areas, and workspaces they’ll soon be using to build real-world culinary skills.

From learning the kitchen layout to imagining what they’ll create in these spaces, the possibilities are endless—and we can’t wait to see what’s cooking! 🍳🥐🍕👩‍🍳

Teachers from GI-TEC Mt. Pleasant recently joined forces with educators from the Ionia County Career Center and Montcalm Area Career Center for the Region 10 CTE Math & Best Practices PD.

From diving into practical CTE math strategies to trading hands-on classroom insights, our instructors spent the day collaborating, learning, and bringing back fresh ideas for the classroom. Huge thank you to the Montcalm Area Career Center for hosting a great session! 🛠️📚
