Men About Change (Multicultural Academic Student Services)

Men About Change (Multicultural Academic Student Services) Men About Change is a male mentoring program initiated by Multicultural Academic Student Services. There is no cost to be a part of this initiative.

Men About Change is a male leadership program that was initiated by Multicultural Academic Student Services in the fall of 2007. This program provides young men at Central Michigan University with the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills as well as obtain professional and academic guidance in order to help them obtain their undergraduate degrees while preparing the to assist other young

men to do the same. The program serves to "build men to build men," fostering reciprocity to younger generations. These young men will be provided this guidance with the expectation that they will provide the same guidance to an incoming freshman male as well as serving as a resource to their fellow students. By engaging male faculty, staff, and students as mentors, this program will function as a mechanism for increasing the retention of young men at Central Michigan University. The goals and objectives of Men About Change are to:

Increase retention of young men at CMU and ensure that they obtain their undergraduate degree

Increase civic engagement as well as the effectiveness of male leadership at CMU

Cultivate compassionate, progressive, and proactive mentality among young men at CMU

Prepare young men to be resources to their community

Come explore the resources that being a college student has to offer. At CMU, we define a First Gen student as having parents or guardians who did not seek an education beyond a high-school diploma. Because of this, your exposure to or knowledge of the university experience in general is limited. At this event you will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with current faculty and staff mentors to stay connected to CMU support systems. There will be free food and beverages at this event.
