Google has just rolled out a slew of new games and features to its Santa's Village holiday page, including a location-based "Santa Tracker" that will follow Santa as he travels around the world delivering presents on Christmas Eve. You'll also find new holiday commands for Google Assistant and brand new educational games.

The search giant’s Santa’s Village is now in its 15th year and to celebrate, Google has a few new holiday updates to share. Santa’s Village boasts two dozen fun educational games, including ones that teach kids to code, as well as videos and other holiday activities. Unlike previous years, all of the Village’s interactive features are available starting today.

Use Google Santa Tracker to follow Santa Claus on Google Maps as he makes his journey around the world.

Schools spend a great deal of money on software that is barely used, if at all. Why does that happen?

On November 16, 2018, a Soyuz-FG rocket launched from Kazakhstan, and perched atop it was a Progress resupply ship carrying two and a half tons of materials for the astronauts on ISS. The launch occurred at 18:14 UTC, or just after midnight local time. As it happens the ISS was over the Russian/Mongolian border at that time, far to the east of the launch but high enough above the Earth’s surface to still see it directly.

Riccardo Rossi, a 3D graphics designer and astronautics/photography enthusiast (and managing board member of the Italian Space and Astronautics Association), downloaded photographs taken by a camera onboard the ISS and stitched them together to create this phenomenally jaw-dropping time-lapse video of the launch as seen from space. Seriously, make this as high-res as your connection will allow, click the “full screen” button, sit back, and be blown away!

Nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Conrad Anker and a team of the world’s finest explorers used Google Earth to plan an expedition to the Queen Maud Land territory in Antarctica - where they spent a month setting new climbing routes on the Wolf’s Jaw massif.

This is a great article on the importance of educational based technology specialists staying in touch with the actual needs of the people they serve. A must read for teachers and school administrators, as well as those of us on the technology support side of things.
