Although she is not new to the Wando family, please welcome Olivia Thatcher to her new position as our 504 Coordinator!

Ms. Thatcher relocated to Charleston from Pennsylvania to work at Wando ten years ago as a social studies teacher mainly teaching AP World History. She spent the three years prior teaching in China and loves to travel. Growing up outside of Philly, she is a massive Eagles fan and even met Jason Kelce this summer! Ms. Thatcher attended West Chester University of PA for her undergraduate degree and earned her Masters in Educational Leadership from the Citadel in 2021. Ms. Thatcher has loved every moment in the classroom since beginning her career in 2012 and is excited for the new opportunity to now work on the administrative side. In her free time she loves to explore, try new foods, and spend every moment she can with her family, especially her 14 month old, Henry.

We are so excited to announce that Wando High School has earned the 2024-2025 5A Division 1 Carlisle Cup in athletic excellence for the tenth time out of 11 years!

The Carlisle Cup measures athletic performance across all sports to crown the top athletic program in each classification. Each sport earns points based on their finish in the state playoffs. We are proud to report that Wando was the only school to score in every category!

Congratulations to all of our student athletes, coaches, trainers, parents, fans, athletic directors, and administrators who helped achieve this award!

Please welcome Berry Shupe to the Wando family! He will be joining our Counseling Department.

Mr. Shupe is coming to Wando as a third year School Counselor. He grew up in the area during elementary school, but moved to New York in middle school before coming back after grad school. Mr. Shupe has had a lot of fun embracing the Southern lifestyle the past few years; he can’t say enough about the food trucks down here! He recently moved to Charleston County from Berkeley along with his dog, Po, and he is very excited to be a part of the Wando team.

Please welcome Chasidy Reid to the Wando family! She will be joining our Science Department.

After a year and a half in beautiful Honolulu and many years in the Deep South, Mandeville, Louisiana, Mrs. Reid and her husband (along with their cat Milo) are excited to now call Mt. Pleasant home. Mrs. Reid is also a proud mom to two amazing children, Braden (23) and Kaitlyn (21). This fall marks her 26th year in education, and throughout her career, she has had the joy of teaching English, biology, environmental science, and even a year of photography. When she is not in the classroom, you can find Mrs. Reid outdoors at festivals, hiking, relaxing at the beach, or discovering new local gems. She is thrilled to join the Wando family and can’t wait to make lasting memories as a Warrior!

Please welcome Anne Hallett to the Wando family! She will be joining our Math Department.

Mrs. Hallett is originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and she has lived in Charleston since 2011. She has a B.S. in Mathematics and an M.A. in Educational Technology from LSU. Mrs. Hallett has taught high school math for 12 years, and she is so excited to be joining Wando! Outside of school, she enjoys spending her time at the beach or doing other outdoor activities with her husband and daughter.

Please welcome Lindsay Adams to the Wando family! She will be joining our Social Studies Department.

Once a Warrior, always a Warrior! Ms. Adams, a graduate of the class of 2014, is excited to return to her alma mater as the new AP Human Geography teacher. She holds AP certifications in both Human Geography and Psychology. Ms. Adams earned a dual degree in Secondary Education and History from the College of Charleston, as well as a master’s degree in Curriculum Instruction and Design. Her passion for education focuses on inspiring students to reach their full potential, particularly through the challenges and rewards of AP coursework. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, family, and friends. Ms. Adams looks forward to making a positive impact and having an inspiring year with our Warriors!

Please welcome Matthew Kilby to the Wando family! He will be joining our Fine Arts Department as an Associate Band Director for .

Mr. Kilby received his Bachelor’s from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Master’s from Indiana University, and his all-but-dissertation (he’s working on it, he promises) at Boston University for his Doctorate in Musical Arts in Music Education. Before Wando, Mr. Kilby taught at Fort Dorchester High School for seven years as Associate Band Director, and specializes in percussion. Mr. Kilby and his wife, Alden, are Wando grads and excited to be back! At home, they strive to be good role models for their Boykin Spaniel, Bonneau, who is handsome and a good boy. When not playing and writing music, Mr. Kilby enjoys tinkering in the garage and watching a good TV show.

Please welcome Devon Kelly to the Wando family! She will be joining our English Department.

Miss Kelly is incredibly excited to join the Wando Warriors’ English department this year! She is a Pennsylvania native from the Philly area and comes from a long line of Penn Staters. Miss Kelly graduated from Penn State, majoring in English and minoring in Human Development and Family Studies. A year later, she also earned her M.Ed from Penn State while student teaching at Altoona Area High School. Her desire for a change of scenery (and warmer weather) brought her to Charleston last year, and she recently completed her first year of teaching. In addition to her passion for all things ELA, Miss Kelly also loves traveling, PSU and Philly sports, matcha, and Harry Potter. She’s eager to start this upcoming school year at Wando and be a part of the Warrior community!

Ms. Causey is a South Carolina native and Clemson graduate with 10 years of teaching experience in the Lowcountry. She loves teaching science and engaging students in new and creative ways. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, and spending time with her puppy, Titus. Ms. Causey is looking forward to meeting her students and jumping into an exciting year as a Warrior!

Please welcome John Reynolds to the Wando family! He will be joining our CTE Department and is also our new Head Coach.

Coach Reynolds comes to Wando after spending the last three years as the Associate Head Basketball Coach at The Citadel. He is a 2011 graduate of The Citadel, where he also played for the basketball team. Since graduation, he earned an MBA from Delta State University while coaching basketball there, and has made coaching stops at Presbyterian College and the University of South Carolina as well. Originally from Columbia, Coach Reynolds and his wife reside in Mount Pleasant with their two children, Johnny (6) and Millie (4), and English bulldog, Cannon. They enjoy family beach days at Sullivan’s Island, exploring Charleston’s restaurants, and attending concerts and Citadel athletic events.

Please welcome Susan Brown to the Wando family! She will be joining our Counseling Department.

Dr. Brown is a native Charlestonian who attended public and private schools in Charleston County. She earned her B.S. from the College of Charleston, her Master’s from The Citadel, and her Doctoral Degree from Charleston Southern University. Dr. Brown served for 14 years as a school counselor at West Ashley High School in Charleston County and 8 years at Stratford High School in Berkeley County. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, listening to music, and watching General Hospital. Dr. Brown is very excited to be a part of the Wando Warrior family!
