An impulsive career application made one recent Central Michigan University alumna “go bananas” for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

We’re proud to honor Matthew Boak as a recipient of the 2026 10 Within 10 Recognition! 🔥⬆

Earlier this year, Matthew, ’18, was in the room when education legislation he helped advance was signed into law. That moment — earned through years of relationship-building and public service — reflects exactly the kind of impact CMU prepares its graduates to make.

A policy advisor at the Michigan Senate, Matt also serves as vice chair of the Clinton County Democratic Party and president of the St. Johns Public Schools Board of Education — a CMU Chippewa who shows up for his community at every level.

We’re proud to honor Dyese Matthews as a recipient of the 2026 10 Within 10 Recognition! 🔥⬆

Dyese, ’18, teaches fashion as a lens for justice. As an assistant professor at Parsons School of Design at The New School in New York, she brings scholarship, creativity and purpose to one of the world’s leading design institutions — and traces it all back to her time at CMU. She is the founder of Noire Narratives (), a digital oral history project preserving fashion stories across the African Diaspora. Her 2025 Richard Martin Exhibition Award from the Costume Society of America reflects the reach of her curatorial and scholarly work.

From resident assistant to CMU Black Fashion Future Exhibition participant to Parsons faculty, her path reflects all that a CMU Chippewa can become.

We’re proud to honor Jasmine Hall as a recipient of the 2026 10 Within 10 Recognition! 🔥⬆

Jasmine left Flint for Harvard — and came back to give back. As an epidemiologist at the Michigan Public Health Institute, her work centers health equity, data access and data quality at the state level.

Back home in Flint, she mentors young people through the Flint Public Health Youth Academy, leads social action, voter engagement and advocacy work with the Flint Deltas, and runs We Are Healthy and Well, LLC — bringing yoga and mindfulness programming to Flint community members to support emotional regulation and well-being.

A first-generation CMU graduate, Honors alumna and 2016 GEAR UP Mentor of the Year, Jasmine is the kind of CMU Chippewa who doesn't just succeed — she opens the door for others.
