If you are homeschooling your children or are considering doing so, Veritas Classical Schools is here to help. The goal of Veritas is to offer homeschooling families a unique complement to their home study programs with an emphasis on classical as well as traditional subjects taught from a distinctly Christian perspective. Veritas serves you by coming alongside in the role of tutor and providing quality instruction one day a week. We provide homeschool families with:
Integrated core curriculum in history, geography, literature, composition, grammar, critical thinking, and vocabulary/language with regular assignments to outline student's work at home
Weekly (one day a week) classroom instruction and peer interaction in an academic environment
Math, Science and Foreign Language courses to complement our Humanities program are offered on a second day
Biblical encouragement by knowledgeable, Christian instructors who help you guide your student in understanding that all truth is God's truth
Gentle accountability for completed assignments
Teaching of advanced subjects with enrichment activities not frequently included in homeschool studies
Evaluation of Student's progress by experienced educators
Veritas recognizes that parents are ultimately responsible before God for the education of their children. This education includes an upbringing that will teach them the basics of education and plant in them a thirst for knowledge and truth.

Veritas Family,
Some of you are familiar with Michelle Whitmore and her family. Michelle’s son Josh (a former Veritas Student) was involved in a horrible accident while on duty. He was hit by a another driver while responding to a call. He’s currently in the hospital and is fighting through a brain injury. Please keep the whole Whitmore family in your prayers right now!
A Berkeley County deputy was hospitalized and is recovering after he was seriously injured in a motor-vehicle collision early Saturday morning. The collision occurred on University Boulevard, near Elms Plantation Boulevard, just after 2:00 a.m.
The deputy was responding with emergency lights and sirens to a disturbance call that involved fi****ms. The deputy was traveling westbound on University Boulevard when another vehicle, traveling eastbound on University Boulevard, made a left turn in front of the deputy.
The deputy is identified as Joshua Whitmore. Whitmore has been with Berkeley County since June 2021 and has previous law enforcement experience.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating if alcohol was a contributing factor to the collision.
Please pray for our Deputy and his family both blood and blue.

While our students are enjoying their last couple weeks of summer, all of our wonderful teachers have been working hard the last two days getting ready for all of them. We cannot wait to see all of our students in just a few short weeks!

What is this new tech-world doing to our brains?!
"[N]euroscience proves what each of these busy people have found: it actually takes less energy to focus intently than to zip from task to task. After an hour of contemplation, or deep reading, a person ends up less tired and less neurochemically depleted, thus more able to tackle mental challenges." A timely challenge from Philip Yancey.

Words of wisdom from out mentor, Susan Wise Bauer!
When we recommend memorization in THE WELL-TRAINED MIND, this is the kind of memorization we have in mind--not meaningless mnemonics and raw repetition, but the repetition of repeated use and the connection of facts together with a whole body of knowledge. Great piece on the difference for your weekend reading.
