I was reading โ€˜The Untethered Soulโ€™ and came across a chapter regarding death. It talked about how we as humans fear death.

Especially as parents. We fear losing our kids. Or fear something may happen to us and our kids will have to grow up without us.

When someone knows they are close to death, they have a peace about them. They have accepted death and no longer fear it.

If you are like me, the fear of death has stopped you from getting on that plane. Or taking that trip. Or simply put - LIVING.

When reading this book, it created a space to look at death as not bad but as a friend.

Death is the one thing that is looking out for us and trying to keep us on track of living.

We canโ€™t cheat death. We arenโ€™t Devon Sawa (๐Ÿ˜) from ๐—™๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐——๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป.

It is the only thing we can depend on without fail. We will die. We may lose our loved ones. It is inevitable.

Death isnโ€™t going to skip us.

Some of us donโ€™t START living until AFTER weโ€™ve experienced death. Others never do because the fear over takes their lives.

When we look at death as our friend. Or the one thing that is looking out for us, we can start to see the world differently.

WE ARE REMINDED WHAT IT MEANS TO LIVE FULLY.

We will meet death eventually so why not live the best life we can so when that time comes, we have NO REGRETS.

Death keeps us grounded. It gives us the gift to see what is in front of us rather than live in our imaginations of all that COULD HAPPEN.

I started to feel closer to death after losing Terese but never understood why until seeing death as an ally instead of an enemy.

As fear is inevitable, it is an imposter. Having you think it is keeping you safe when really it has you stuck. Stagnant.

Try on the idea that death can actually be looking out for you. Giving you the chance to dance without judgment. Doing the work your heart is meant to do. Love unconditionally.

What are the possibilities?!?

Letting go and trusting the good guy above is one of the hardest things to do.

I believe I live with great faith. More so than ever before however Iโ€™m stuck right now in my professional life that had me jumping back into trying to ๐…๐ˆ๐†๐”๐‘๐„ out my future.

I want the answers. I want some direction. I want someone to swoop in and tell me what to do.

Sadly, we can change our past and canโ€™t know our future. It all is about patience and living in the present. Just letting faith take over and trusting that we are making the right decisions.

Argh. So tough!

When I pray, I normally pray to my grandma. She is the one who guides me. My sweet Terese was name after her and she hs always held a special place in my heart as one of my guides.

Ironically today is the 11th year we have been without her. She left us 6.8.10. I was on the airplane, on my way to visit her one last time when she gained her wings.

I have a HUGE decision that I have to make in the next few days and Iโ€™m leaning on what she taught me. To trust that all will work out.

So that is what Iโ€™m going to do. Put it in the big guyโ€™s hands and let the universe tell me my next steps!

I grew up in sports. Between my two older siblings and me, there wasnโ€™t a day, sometime not even an hour where sports didnโ€™t consume our lives.

Soccer. Softball. Basketball. Volleyball.

I was athletic so I was competitive in each. Some I even excelled at. Got to go to college because of them.

The one sport that has my heart and the best memories is TRACK & FIELD.

There is something about being able to move at a speed that all stress, problems and conflict canโ€™t keep up.

Moments where the wind erases all sense of fear or doubt.

The body is an amazing thing. A body in movement is something even more remarkable.

Iโ€™m officially half way done with .

No alcohol. No cheat meals. Gallon of water. Two 45min workouts with one being outdoors. Progress photo daily. 10 pages of reading a REAL book.

My past life as an athlete has helped but Iโ€™d like to think my pst life as a track athlete is the reason I have made it this far.

It is giving me back that feeling of being outside with my thoughts on the pavement. Where no one can tell me what to do or what to think.

Just me and the ground. Moving at different speeds. Sometimes slow. Sometimes fast. Always moving.

Today I feel strong. Today I feel ok.

75 hard isnโ€™t a physical challenge. It is mental. There isnโ€™t compromising. This is about grit and determination. This is saying yes to yourself when your surroundings try to get you to make exceptions or take shortcuts.

Itโ€™s about accountability. This is what I need and finally am on the home stretch!

I love .

How she shows up. Good and bad. She isnโ€™t afraid to speak the struggles or her truth.

Her speech at the billboard awards really hit me but especially this quote.

So to the point.

What happens if all your dreams do come true????

Ima just leave that there and let it sit. Soak it in.

Have you ever caught your self feeling defeated after making a HUGE life decision only to be faced with another one so soon. Questioning what the previous decision was even for??

4 months ago I left my job after 8 years.

Making the decision was agonizing. I loved my job. I loved my company. I just wasnโ€™t fulfilled in the work I was doing.

I had an opportunity to jump on over to teaching in one of the local inner city high schools where I lived.

I joined the business department and started teaching Marketing & Business. Took a significant pay cut but felt that working with teens and teaching Business, I had an opportunity to create great impact.

Sadly as of right now, my full time position got cut and am only being renewed as a part time teacher.

Another significant pay cut.

I didnโ€™t think Iโ€™d be faced with another TOUGH decision so soon.

One of my greatest strengths, on top of being Courageous, is being rational. I can justify everything that is taking place. Iโ€™ll get frustrated then Iโ€™ll justify it away.

What was eye opening was that life doesnโ€™t get easier. Life is still hard. It still requires gut wrenching decisions that could be wrong.

REMEMBER: it all matters. Every. Big. AND. Small. Decision.

The thing that is different is the fact that with practice of living through ๐—›๐—”๐—ฅ๐——, you walk through stronger. Taller. With more certainty.

Iโ€™m not sure what I am going to do but I do know Iโ€™ll figure it out and it will be what it needs to be.

That right there is แ‘ญOแ—ฏEแ–‡แ–ดแ‘Œแ’ช!

Are you happy?

Like really happy?!?

I asked myself that the other day and it was interesting because Iโ€™m not really sure what happiness really is.

I mean is it an emotion? Is it the same as pleasure? Is happiness the absence of pain or is it a blissful experience?

Whatโ€™s interesting is that these are emotions right?

Theyโ€™re always fleeting and donโ€™t last long. They last for moments at a time. Sometimes right after each other but not always long lasting.

Sometimes we can even experience these emotions even when we have sadness in our heart.

So I think in order to answer the question โ€œare you happy?โ€

You first must be able to explain what your definition of happiness is and is it adequate?

In the book Iโ€™m reading, it says the word โ€˜happinessโ€™ is an Icelandic word and โ€˜Happโ€™ means luck or chance.

Comes from the same source of the words haphazard and happenstance.

So does that mean happiness is a chance?

So back to my question. โ€œAm I happy?โ€

โ€œAre you happy?โ€

I think I need to do some digging to better understand MY definition. I think I am but the fact I donโ€™t KNOW has me perplexed.

Whatโ€™s your definition of happiness? How do you know youโ€™re happy?
