There are at least 74 languages spoken in Thailand, along with ethnic and regional dialects of Chinese. In Northern Thailand, each hill tribe speaks its own languages! Although Thai is the most commonly-spoken language in the country, a large proportion of Thai speakers also speak their regional dialect or language, as well. Thai alone is not an easy language, with 42 consonants (twice as many as English), and 5 distinct tones. Have you been to Thailand?
