Meet our Clara!
The beautiful and talented Isabel Fernandez will be dancing the role of Clara in Palmetto City Ballet’s all new Nutcracker!
Izzy has been dancing with us since she was only 8 years old and is currently a sophomore at Bishop England High School. She has spent summers at Carolina Ballet, School of American Ballet, and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.

Learning and practicing classical variations not only helps improve technique and strength but also helps with artistry and performance quality. Select students from this class will have the opportunity to perform in both statewide and national competitions this season. 💕

Yesterday’s Injury Prevention Workshop was so fun and informative!! A huge thank you to Dr. Sam Sheppard, DPT, Tine D. Livesay, PT, and our very own ballet teacher and Pilates instructor, Miss Tonia, for sharing their time and expertise with our students, parents and teachers. Dancers are athletes and it is our goal to keep them healthy and injury free. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝!

Angelina Sansone began her formal ballet training with Charlotte City Ballet in North Carolina. At the age of 14 she left her family’s home to attend The Harid Conservatory with a full tuition scholarship. After graduating from Harid, she spent two seasons with the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, where she appeared in Robert Altman’s 2003 film, The Company. Following her stay with Joffrey, Angelina worked toward her BS in Ballet at Indiana University before accepting a contract with the Kansas City Ballet in 2005. In her 14 seasons with the company, Angelina enjoyed a rich career working with numerous choreographers and performing a ranging repertoire of soloist and principal roles.

While pursuing her performing career, Angelina maintained an active teaching schedule and participated in a wide range of creative projects in the arts community. For over 15 years, she was on staff as Ballet teacher with several dance schools and taught as guest faculty across the country. In August of 2018, Angelina returned to her home state of NC and proudly joined the ballet faculty at UNCSA. Before beginning her employment with UNSCA, Angelina received her certification from the ABT National Training Curriculum in levels pre-primary through level 5. In the following years, in addition to her teaching schedule, Angelina has staged multiple pieces and assisted in the creation of 2 new works by Ilya Kozadayev and Stephanie Martinez. In the summer of 2019, she was invited to teach for three weeks at the Shaoguan University in Guangdong, China.

What an amazing year! Along with a full schedule of afternoon classes, 13 year old Annabel is a student in our pre-professional daytime training program. This season, she has had the opportunity to perform alongside the professional dancers of Palmetto City Ballet in two major productions: Snow Queen and Cinderella. She also traveled to Atlanta to compete in the prestigious Youth American Grand Prix competition where, not only did she receive scholarship awards to both the Ballet West Academy and the International Summer School Italia, she won top 12 in the junior classical category out of over 100 dancers! This summer she will be attending Nashville Ballet’s 5-week summer intensive on a full merit scholarship.

Our successful weekend shows of Cinderella are a wrap! What an incredible job well done by all! The talent shown was amazing and it was even more special with students and teachers sharing the stage. A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our backstage volunteers. It really does take a village and without you we would not have been able to pull it off.

Oh wait....... Recital is up in a few weeks. Here we go everyone!!!
