This week is national school psychology week! We are so thankful Ms. Courtney and all she does for our students!! 💚💚💚
Did you know that Ms. Courtney is graduate of Virginia Tech, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, as well as a minor in Leadership and Social Change? She obtained her Master’s Degree in Psychology, as well as her Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology from Radford University, and has been in Charleston since 2014. She is passionate about equitable practices and incorporating cultural responsiveness into social and emotional learning (SEL), and it shows in all she does at ECMCS.
Outside of school she loves spending their time on water with her family. Her other interests include exercising, cooking, and travelling.
Happy School Psychology Week Ms. Courtney!

Thank you, David McSweeny, for sharing your expertise, knowledge, and passion for Civil Engineering with our STEM Middle School Major Program. Students in the STEM major class have been designing and building bridges out of popsicles and wood glue with the goal of withstanding 100 pounds of force, while being the most efficient with materials. It was an honor to learn from Mr. David about the field of civil engineering and we gained valuable insight leading to modifications before our exciting Bridge Testing day!
6th & 7th grade students are hard a work during their MMUN Writing Workshop.

Middle school art students are learning clay slab building techniques in the art studio. We have been looking at the work of Kimmy Cantrell, an artist from Georgia who is well known for his clay faces. We have also been making some clay ornaments. Students are exploring how to work with a variety of clay tools to create patterns, textures and designs in their work. Stay tuned to see how these works evolve over the next few weeks!

Primary and Lower Elementary classes read the book Pumpkin Jack by Will Hubbell and learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin. We'll be watching our own Pumpkin Jack and observing how he changes over time. Week 2 and he's already decomposing!

We are so proud of all the wonderful book character pumpkins that have been brought in. Kuddos to everyone's awesome creativity! They will be on display in the library the rest of this week.
Great, great job everyone!!👏👏🎃🎃
