Happy 50th Birthday to the one and only Mr. Bloomfield!!! We are so grateful for everything you do for our school. We sure hope you are having a great day celebrating this milestone birthday. Now, if we only had his song writing and singing skills, we could make up a birthday rap for him. But, since we don’t, please leave him a birthday wish in the comments to help him celebrate! 🎉🎂🎈

Tomorrow is the last day to bring in your change for Jar Wars! Thank you so much for all of your support!
And thank you to Mrs. Lentz, the mom of a WES student who has CF, for spending time with us over the last couple of weeks & teaching our students about CF! The students especially loved trying out her daughter’s vest that she wears daily to keep her lungs healthy.
The winning classroom wins a Star Wars themed pizza party! We can’t wait to see who wins.
Join us in raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in support of one of our 1st grade students, Aubin!
Cystic Fibrosis, or CF, is a genetic disease that affects all organs in the body but is most detrimental to the lungs. Not so long ago this disease was categorized as a childhood disease because they never made it out of elementary school. There have been advancements in treatment but there is no cure.
To help raise money to find a cure, Whitesides is participating in JAR WARS from now until May 4th! Just bring in your spare change or donate to your classroom jar. Each classroom will compete and see who can bring in the most donations. On May the 4th (be with you) we will tally it all up and whoever has the most wins a Star Wars themed pizza party!
We are so thankful for the Wildcats to be joining our fight for a cure for CF!
Our 4th graders visited Fort Sumter today to learn more about Charleston’s history and the Civil War.
5th grade had an awesome field trip to the USS Yorktown this week.
They learned about WWII, energy and ecosystems, and they participated in a mission simulation where they had to defend an approaching attack!
Mrs. Smoot’s 4th grade SAIL students held their “At the Mall with Algebra” year end project this week. Students used their talents to create items to sell at their “store.” The students had to figure out the prices by solving algebraic equations. We love the creativity that went into these projects - pencil holders, body scrub, paintings, cards and so much more. Well done, 4th graders!!
Students in Mrs. McCall's science classes completed research on an assigned scientist and wrote very impressive research papers. For a culminating activity, each student completed a quilt block that represents their scientist and these were then sewn into a class quilt by Mrs. McCall. We are so impressed with these 5th graders work - and Mrs. McCall’s sewing skills! 🤩
Congratulations to our top 25 second-grade readers who won the Reading Around the Bases Challenge. They had the opportunity to go on a field trip to see the RiverDogs play today for Education Day. ⚾️📚🍿
